I've now been taking Forteo for 11 months. My endo has his own DEXA scanner, so (since different DEXA machines are known to give different readings) I asked my primary care doc to order another another DEXA from the lab where I had my original DEXAs done. That one machine has now given me the following readings: SPINE Jan. 2005 T = -2.20 Jan. 2006...

Isn't drinking milk supposed to be good for persons suffering from osteoporosis? But what if the person has lactose intolerance?

I just had a repeat DEXA after about 2 years. My doctor said it's ok, but I asked for a copy and when I took it home, it didn't seem so ok to me. And....I don't understand it all. Spine: "Based on analysis of L2-4, bone mineral density is 1.003 gm/cm2. T score is -1.6 and bone mass is low. Since the prior exam of 8/6/04, bone mass has decreased...

Many of us are aware of the risks involved in buying medications from online pharmacies. They are cheap, yes. But, dont we often wonder if the tablets are real and contain what they supposed to. Wouldn't it be great if you not only save money buying the meds cheap online but also have the peace of mind knowing they are authentic. Test the meds before you...

The article linked below was in today's Toronto Sun. I'm surprised that there isn't more discussion of this in this group. Maybe it's hard to find information but if this is as good as it looks, I'll buy one. That doesn't mean I'd stop exercise, etc. One way to fight osteoporosisMachine may well be in forefront of treatment By DOCTOR GIFFORD-JONES h...

Anyone here taking these drugs sufficiently concerned to stop? If *nothing* is allowed to be present in your stomach during the absorption period, empty stomach and all, what gives with Fosamax Plus D? Isn't Vitamin D something?

The Journal of Women's Health recently published a study done at the University of Connecticut that concluded: "These findings indicate that higher levels of serum triglycerides and cholesterol are positively associated with BMD of various skeletal sites. The mechanism of this association is not clear, and studies are needed to clarify this relationship" So...

It's nice to hear that someone's insurance is paying for their Forteo except for $65 or $30 a month, but mine won't pay at all and I'd really appreciate hearing from people about how to deal with the situation---everything from appeals to specialty pharmacies to Canada to whatever.

Anita Weier, "Prunes may strengthen bones after menopause", Capital Times, January 13, 2007, Link: http://www.madison.com/tct/news/index.php?ntid=114801&ntpid=5 Could prunes reverse bone loss after menopause? I am celebrating...feel like dancing in the streets. Had my bi-annual dexa scan on Monday and the technician was so surprised she sort of exclaimed. She laughed that my spine is better than hers....and I said it was my hips that concerned me most...but these are now 'normal bone density.' We talked some and when she was finished I asked to look at...
