I am taking Fosamax for osteopenia. I have been getting it free from Merck under their assistance program. Now, my doctor has been told (by the hospital he works for) not to sign off on any future assistance prescriptions. Their reason is that I am eligible for Medicare D (which I do not have). Hi, I just got diagnosed with osteoporosis. My doc wants me to try Forteo. He thinks I've had it my whole life, but I thought that I might have lost my bone density over the last year, in which I was totally sedentary, smoked nonstop, got no sunlight and didn't take my hypothyroid meds, all of which I've since discovered are risk factors for Osteoporosis....
