So I'm 3 months post surgery on a completely ruptured achilles tendon repair. Today in physical therapy we got to start some new exercises that were for more weight bearing motions. My achilles POPPED with lots of pain. But it did not rupture again, luckily. After a few minutes the pain mostly went away. The therapist said that it was scar tissue popping...

All, I have had mallet finger since march 13 2007 and still have the finger stack splint on. My question is how do I determine if it is healed? I know that you should keep it on for 4-6 weeks and I do not want to go back to the doctor because I think it is a waste. Are there any signs that it is healed? I know that if I take the splint off my finger...

Very prone to aching joints and muscles It used to be, I could exert myself heavily, and I might feel a little sore the next day, but it wouldn't be too bad, and it would go away quickly. One day I'd hike 9 miles up 1000 feet in the Rockies, then the next day I'd do something similar, and so on for a week, and not really feel much ill effects. I do recall...

A year a so ago I took a fall on the ice. At first it was thought I might have had a fracture of the hip, but xrays revealed that not to be so. The other day I came across the xray report and noted the first line said, "Pelvic and hip are demineralized." It now occurs to be that that doesn't sound good. doctor never mentioned it to me at the time. What...

I can't believe I am back on this group with a different injury. The torn back muscles from coughing back in Feb. have healed and the coughing abruptly stopped in time for me to go and have an angiogram, which proved the coronary arteries are clear. I stopped imbibing alcohol so there should be no more congestion, hence coughing.. This knee injury is...

1. I want to know how common is it to use a catheter on male patients to urinate them, when a man has surgery to put a rod into his calf- bone in case of a fracture, in India? 2. Who puts in this catheter? 3. Is it put while the patient is conscious? Is it taken out when the patient is conscious? 4. What is the exact procedure of putting this in and...

Due to phlegm or mucus buildup recently I had to do a lot of coughing. I had muscle pain on both sides of my back but it went away two weeks ago. Then, with more mucus being produced this last week (allergies?) I began coughing up thick, tenacious mucus, with very intense coughing. These mucus plugs about the size of a thumb took a lot of huffing to get...

Hello, I've been dignosed with (according to my x-ray) "minor degenerative disc disease at the L2-3 and L3-4 levels" I've gained about 50lbs in 2006, could that be the cause? I've been fairly active most of my life and have never had back problems before until the last few months. It hasn't been my bed, chair or anything else that I can put a finger...

Hello--- I fell on a glass bottle and cut my hand open in mid November. There was a fairly deep laceration that ran across the base of my middle and 4th fingers ( right at the junction of the finger and palm, the underside of the hand ), about 1.25 inches long. They stitched it up that night, and everything seemed ok---i could use my hand normally, no pain,...

I suffered a comminuted fracture of the right distal femur about seven weeks ago. The surgeon reduced the fracture the morning after the injury with internal fixation using a plate and 10 screws. I've had a few complications, first a blood clot (DVT in my right calf) a week after the surgery. Then, a week later I developed a hematoma in my right knee...

I recently fell, and was taken to the emergency room, they originally thought it was a shoulder dislocation. Turns out it was a separation because of the AC ligament tear. Apparently they consider it in the bottom one or two of severity because they did not recommend surgery and told me to call orthopedics in two weeks to schedule therapy. My question...
