I have a metal Bilco Basement door that was installed about 10 years ago. The caulking that goes between the door and the underlying concrete is starting to fail. I'm wondering if there is a particular type of caulking that is recommended for this.

Gyprock ceiling is falling down, due to ground movements; clay soil. I am informed that the ceiling is attached to beams by studs(?). Inspecting the roof cavity is difficult as it's a flat fibro roof. Since the split in the ceiling is so large, can see, two beams/joists/battons coming across; not sure whether these are the same timbers that the gyprock...

I am trying to size my bathroom exhaust fan. Most sizing chart says to use the SQFT size and multiply by 1.1 to get the CFM if ceiling is standard 8'. So for a 10x10 bath = 100 SF it would be 110 CFM. However when you use finish using your bath typically you have the fan on and the bathroom door open right? So it's drawing the air in the bath PLUS...

I have little speck of brownish orange stains on my white shirts, and I thought may be I was just sloppy when eating pasta. Well I bought a brand new white shirt last Friday and washed it Sunday. Before I wore it I noticed a few speck of small orange stains the size of the letter "o" on your keyboard. So it couldn't be pasta sauce. I have not even...

Have a hall where there is unevenness under carpet down part of the length. There will be new carpet going down eventually. Found that the subfloor has a joint that is not on a joist. About an inch away. T&G but it's obviously been ignored many years. Tongue is broken in some areas. I plan to put some 2x' from underneath with the face across the joint...

My front swivel Ariens finally died. It had a 5.5 Tecumseh engine The new Ariens LM21SW Has a Kohler or Kawasaki 6.0 motor. Not sure what the better motor is, they are both $650 Any other suggestions for a mower? I have never used a mower with straight wheels, the swivel wheels let the mower go around my landscape. I looked at the John Deere, but...

Is conduit required for wiring in a detached garage, or can the wire be run to the outlet boxes in NM cable? I have exposed 2x4's with no drywall. Can someone site a code reference? I am planning to add some additional wiring to my garage and would like to do it correctly. I had seen something in an old post about protecting wiring below 75". Anybody...

Can someone please explain to me what "stick templating" is as it pertains to countertops? Are we basically gluing up small strips of thin wood to represent the shape of the countertop? Thanks, John
