I have finished stripping down my front door and now its time to finish it. I believe it is mahagony and I would like to keep the finish natural. I am planning on using the Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane as a finish coat. My question is do I still need to stain the door, or can I just use the urethane on top of the unfinished wood?

Heat technolgy with verve. Since more than 30 years - water-bearing chimney boilers. As the costs for energy explode and the responsibility for everyone towards the environment becomes clearer day by day, it is time to draw the consequences. And to decide for a heat system that - technically mature and approved in many cases - united any advantage of modern heat...

After stripping the flooring to the bare concrete slab, I removed the wood trim at the bottom of the wall. There is an irregular 1/4" gap between the slab and foundation along the complete length of the outside walls. Most likely, the gap is due to shrinkage over the 40 years since the house was built. I'm planning to install a Pergo-type laminate...

Is there any code prohibition that speaks against locating an electric hot water heater close to heating oil tanks? I have an oil fired hot water heater in the mechanical room at one end of my basement and would like to place an electric water heater below the middle of the house (about 100 ft from the oil fired water heater,) nearer to guest rooms...

So is it time for the paint threads? We're going to be doing exterior wood trim, and want really good paint for one go-round and long life.

------------------------------------- We hired a local construction company to install a french drain and to finish off our entire basement. Along one of the walls sits the hot water heater. They plan on moving it but not until the start the actual 'finishing' of the basement. Anyway, they cut the concrete floor and installed the drain around the hot...
