The REAL housing crisis is that TOO MANY of them are being built every day, bad mortgages or not. Mindless overpopulation (75 million annually, worldwide) is treated as natural. Nature is treated as expendable. People go about their business, talking about money and investments, as if the land itself is infinite. They always claim there's "plenty of land"...

Since I have hopefully resolved the concrete pad issue I was wondering just how long I could expect a 3-4" asphalt drive to stay intact before cracking here in cold Minnesota. I asked the company who did the work because all the way across a 18' wide part it has cracked. I don't want to stir the pot some more with them because the concrete was far worse...

A house is just that, a house, until someone lives in it. That's when it becomes a Home. There's a big difference. At our house, we always say our home is "well lived in." And, with a family of six, four of them being between the ages of 9 and 15, this house has no choice! Our house, being in the family for over 65 years, is a well seasoned "home." sou...

I'm building a wall of storage shelving for my 45 record collection (appx. 20,000). The records are stored 200/box and each box is 16x8x9, weighing 15lbs. Will 3/4" plywood shelving 4 feet long support this load without deflecting, each shelve will be loaded to 75lbs with supports on the ends only.

Last time I posted we were tearing out walls to create an open kitchen/ living area. Yesterday we tore out the exterior wall in the bathroom to add a 48" shower...the original bathroom was only 5x8 now 12x12, much nicer! http://hamilsense.blogspot.com

Hello I have a little problem. I've got a private firm, the area which is surrounded by a fence. I would like to light this area with twelve 500W lamps. Could one of those wind power plants http://www.solarus.pl/cenniki.php handle it? Best regards.

Heat technolgy with verve. Since more than 30 years - water-bearing chimney boilers. As the costs for energy explode and the responsibility for everyone towards the environment becomes clearer day by day, it is time to draw the consequences. And to decide for a heat system that - technically mature and approved in many cases - united any advantage of modern heat...

Don't you just hate it when a market takes off and you haven't actually got in on time? It happened in Spain, Portugal and Dubai. Now it's happening in Brazil because there has been so much hype, advertising, coverage and that hype has been found to be based on actual facts and fantastic fundamentals.A frenzied buying crowd is pushing...

wanting to apply rough timber board and bat siding to a new construction, but my "thinking like water" mentality makes me a bit nervous about the vertical joints and the dimensional variations of the rough timber. how can vertical siding be installed to best shed water? is it ok if the boards vary a bit in thickness?

I don't need cabinet makers grade. I just want one that is a 10" and has a fence that doesn't have to be dicked with every dam time to keep it square. I have this POS rockwell I paid WAY too much for at an auction, and it just has to go. The fence is not worth the powder and shot it would take to blow it across the street. Something currently on the...
