"PurJava is a top pick according to Phil Lempert of NBC's Today Show Brewing a great cup of coffee can be a very frustrating experience. It's truly both an art and a science. Finding the right coffee beans, storing them properly, grinding them correctly, and using just the right brewing device is all part of the task. You will love Pur Java. Try...

Coffee Bean Direct. Great roasted coffee at competitive prices. Sold by the five pound bag. Hmm, I believe I will brew some now.

Anyone here have experience repairing a Variac? To some of you, this will seem to be off-topic, but I acquired my Variac to control a popcorn popper when I first began home-roasting, and continued to use it for voltage boosting to my Hottop (I get slightly shorter roasts by providing 130V to the Hottop). Recently I've been having some trouble getting...

3 or 4 months ago I decided to give roasting a try. I ordered a Fresh Roast. I think I managed 1 good batch out of about 15 before I returned it and got a Nesco. I love the Nesco. I think the slow roast times give me much more margin for error. Anyway thanks to everyone in this group I got a lot of good info!

Hi, My Giotto was left on and after a couple of hours it just died (ie. it was still plugged in and turned on but the green light is off, pump does not work, etc.). The outlet works with other appliances. Does it have a fuse that can blow or something like that? It was working fine the very same morning. Thanks.

Hi, I'm new to the group so, sorry if this is an old question. I have a Bodum Santos vacuum pot that I've never had much success using. First, the rubber connector between the top and bottom always sticks in the neck of the bottom (carafe). Should I put a little vegetable oil on it or something? Second, it seems no matter how coarse the grind,...

Hi just wanted to say hi to everyone... just found this news group today... I'm thinking of opening a little coffee house here in SE Missouri and hopping to learn a lot from reading past posts... I'm devouring all the books I have bought on this subject as well as working my way through a business plan (even though I am not looking for money...lol) Right...

Several weeks ago a friend asked me if I'd help with a motorcycle run to raise funds for ALS. Lou Gerhig's disease is a relentless affair. I said yes thinking I would be brewing up a container of coffee or giving away a few pounds of beans for a door prize. Once I'd said yes he let me know his 33 year old daughter has ALS and is not expected to live...

Thanks for taking care of my wife's Cousin.... He said the obvious - you are a good Guy ..... One of these years we are going to make that trip down and hope fully we will be able to visit in real as opposed via electronic missives.
