I'm attempting to launch a press pot program which has not worked so well in the past in my coffeehouse. Folks are not too familiar with the press pot around this area. I'm wondering how many on the board have seen or have had served press pot coffee in a coffeehouse? Was it worth what you were charged? How was the presentation? Would you order it again?...

* w w w .guardian.co.uk/business/feedarticle/7635654 ... Some of the remaining bags of arabica beans lay piled atop wooden pallets in the parti-colored store with a corrugated roof that once was filled with 630,000 bags. Only 15,000 remain, trickling on to the local market at periodic auctions. ... The government-owned coffee stayed in storage after...

I went into a local Starbucks today ( July 7) and saw something new. They're giving information about the current roast they are serving including where and when it was roasted. I appreciate it that they have started, apparently, roast dating. Great move. They seem to be continuing the adaptation of some of the third wave techniques. But the listed...

After reading someone's post that they stop brewing when the brew turns blonde, I'm wondering if blonde brew might also mean that more bubbles are present in the brew 'froth.' If beans are light to begin with, and the brew is light to begin with, it will be blonde to begin with -- not so? Yes, I know - the brew will get 'lighter' blonde if you start...

Hey all... I've tried a search but never seem to find a direct answer to my questions... Shot timing... Upon timing my pulls I've noticed that in order to get the 25 (roughly) seconds for 2oz it sometimes "dribbles" out of the PF. This doesn't seem normal!? Acidity... My research tells me that the acidity of the espresso is controlled mainly by the...

One of solutions I kept coming across in response to methods on how to clean a stainless-steel carafe was to use a denture cleaning tablet. I was skeptical, but I came across it over and over again. Well, I just happened to have one, so I decided to give it a try this a.m. I used very hot water, popped a table in, and came back about six hours later. When...

Howdy Folks! Well the knee's feeling better and a lot of family & friends will be gathering to celebrate the 4th of July. I figure it's my job to supply the coffee so I'll be roasting some beans tonight. I'll be having two setups; 1) the new Bunn airpot, and 2) the Nuova Simonelli 1-group. I have several beans to choose from; * Honduras Pacamara *...

Starbucks closing 5 percent of U.S. stores As many as 12,000 Starbucks workers will lose their jobs when the company begins closing 600 U.S. stores this summer. The Seattle coffee company is cutting 5 percent of its U.S. locations as part of a wide-ranging effort to boost its bottom line and its stock price. The chain is accelerating international growth. Most...

I have a coffee maker with a Stainless-steel carafe. It has darkened recently and what is the best way to clean them and try and get the discoloration out? Thanks, Anthony
