I know logically this is a stupid question but I've had my Reg Barber for about 5-6 years and I am finding that in the center of the tamp I almost always get coffee sticking to the tamper after the 10# tamp. I'm thinking of trying my old playground slide trick and "polishing" it with waxed paper to make it slicker but it's got me curious. Your thoughts?

I'm looking for info on apartment rentals in Paris. Seen the websites. Anybody have experience in renting an apartment in Paris for a few weeks? Or a house exchange? Dunno if anyone would be remotely interested in swapping houses for a place in southern NM. Youse readers seems to do this sort of thing. Bernie (my house includes tarantulas and snakes at...

Besides the Starbucks that are closing around the country and Steak and Ale, Bennigans, etc. I'm seeing a few more locally owned places go down in this area. We do have a weaker economy than most places so ours isn't an economy that supports marginal places for long. I purchased some equipment and baking supplies from a local mom and pop that closed this...

Here's an article about an outsider's view of starby ops. Sounds like classic middle-management rot. http :// tinyurl, com /5tuwqx nb

Since most auto-drip coffee makers use the same method of getting water hot and getting it out of the machine -- they boil it and it spurts up through tubing and into the filter basket -- why is it I often hear that cheaper coffee makers brew at "too low a temperature" ?? I've even read some complaints of people saying their cheap coffeemaker brews at...

Retail analyst Barry Urquhart said Starbucks failed...

There's a big long thread about Starbies that was either started by a troll or a market researcher but it doesn't seem like anyone will admit to going to a *$ in the last few years. OK, here it is, a true confession -- I've been going to *$ fairly regularly for the past 2 months. There was a card in the local newspaper for a free iced coffee every...

Sorry to start a new thread, but I deleted the old ones and I've been thinking about the coffee for one question. What I've been thinking is that the best alternative is a moka pot. I've tried most of the coffee for one devices: aeropress (gave it away, a waste of money in my book, and the guy I gave it to gave it away a second time), one cup gold filter...

I've been looking at the Behmore 1600 roaster and Gene...
