*****Guitar Techniques / #152, 5-08***** GILMORE...SANTANA...BENSON...CLAPTON... 5/27/08. I *just* read "PLAY TASTY MINOR SOLOS (WITH THE DORIAN MODE)!" by Dave Kilminster. He did a *killer* job of laying out the modal form sequences. So much is always in the key of 'G', making 'A' Dorian a hot place to learn anything (and then extrapolate the...

Anyone know if any of the current production 6SL7 tubes are any good? That would include Russian, Chinese, whatever? I'm thinking of playing the lottery on ebait for old stock USA tubes, but it would be nice to know if new production tubes are a reasonable alternative. I'm in no hurry here. I'm just thinking about that all octal project I've got...

I'm looking to pick up a modelling amp to have just as a backup and was wondering if any of you folks who own modelling amps could point me in the right direction. There's so many of them out there it's ridiculous. My only real requirement other than decent tone, at least 60W is that it can handle being cranked without losing the bass response or getting...

The number of 's it's taken (so far) to pad the AGA Hell File, reducing almost all noise, allowing sparse, but solid signal through. May I have a few more fresh volunteers to begin the week? Thank you! :-) mvm ~ http :// tinyurl, com /32j32m

I've just bought an Orange Krush 30R for practicing at home. Channel 1 has great clean tone and works just fine for my recent model Fender 12-string, and although the sound is clean enough, it doesn't produce anywhere near the amplification one would expect from a 30 watt amp. Only produces at top volume about the sonic equivalent of an unamplified 6-string, which...

Reading the Radio Amateurs Handbook.. really enjoy it (and recommend it..).. easy to understand (glosses over some of the math but that is ok.. I can find that elsewhere). The section on audio transformers got me thinking about no loads and dead shorts on the secondarys of OTs When you run a tube amp with no load..(i.e. Open secondary) why is that bad...
