Whenever I do a bar chord, I get a massive cramp in the muscle between my thumb and index finger, where the muscle punchs up and looks like a rock and hurts like hell. But if I pull my thumb bac so that it sticks out in the air, I can't get enough strength in the index finger because there's nothing to push against. I try to keep the thumb in line with...

I just signed up and uploaded a few tunes. It's less work than myspace and seems more user friendly all around. Thanks for the inspiration to do it from Stephen Caulder, Sheli Aarden, Charmed Snark, and others. Fun stuff! God Bess, Y'all. I have a number of karaoke files with the extension .mid and they play with vanBasco's karaoke player. What I would like to do is edit them so that the chords show in the text. E.G. :- Am There is a C house in D New F Orleans, Am They call the C Rising E Sun. A simple example but you get what I mean. Has anyone done such a thing? Is there a program,...

Can anyone recommend a video that would be good for someone wanting to learn guitar but doesn't need absolute beginner material - i.e. if you understand scale and chord construction, intervals, etc. and have an adult grasp of things but want to learn guitar techniques. Currently my interest is acoustic, not really rock-electric kind of material. Thank...

is this a decent enough start for a beginner electric player ? and with a vox ad15vt amp ? what strings recommended ? i was thinking the D'addario EXL Nickel super light ? is that a good start ? i welcome other useful suggestions. also the twin/split pickups seem very loose , leaning and wobbly (kind of floating) is this proper/expected ? could...

Ok, I think i may have stumbled on a couple of chords. I'm gonna number them. Not knowing the proper order, the first line will indicate high e string. 0 0 2 2 0 0 Is that a chord? I think that's an A minor variant? Next one 3 1 0 0 2 3 That one is a g variant but not sure what they call it. Now this one too 1 0 0 4 2 3 What are...

I know I should take lessons, but it's been hard enough putting some scratch aside, to get a guitar. I saw this recomendation on guitarists, net http :// www .openguitar, com /dynamic.html This...

When stringing an acoustic guitar, is it better to insert the end of the string into the hole on the tuning peg and then wind it, or is it better to wind a little then insert the string into the hole.

Does any particular kind of string offer an advantage for fingerstyle playing on an electric guitar? Either in gauge or composition? I know it's because I'm not used to playing on an electric, but my B and high E (the only two non-wound strings) sound really twang-y and out of balance with the rest of the strings. The strings are Markley nickel-steels,...

Okay, here's what I'm working on now. You'll notice it still needs some work, mainly in the timing area -- a drum track might help, although I do like to speed up and slow down for effect. The recording tells me that certain passages lack confidence, that the brief foray up to the fifth fret needs a bass line, that a full melody line an octave higher...
