Whenever I do a bar chord, I get a massive cramp in the muscle between my thumb and index finger, where the muscle punchs up and looks like a rock and hurts like hell. I have a number of karaoke files with the extension .mid and they play with vanBasco's karaoke player. What I would like to do is edit them so that the chords show in the text. When stringing an acoustic guitar, is it better to insert the end of the string into the hole on the tuning peg and then wind it, or is it better to wind a little then insert the string into the hole.

Does any particular kind of string offer an advantage for fingerstyle playing on an electric guitar? Either in gauge or composition?
