Staying in the key of D for now, let's see how we can move from D to A
and back with a connecting bass line.
There are a number of ways, but first a descending bass line:
Play the D chord, emphasising the open fourth string (D).
Now play the
A (fifth) string, fourth fret
A (fifth) string, second fret
Then the A chord, with the fifth string as...
