DOes anyone know how to properly do the intro for the Buddy Holly tune? I know the rhythm - just a standard A D E7 shuffle pattern but the lead work stumps me. Thanks guys.

Well, I've been fiddling with my new fender. One of the things I noticed is that bar chords are oh so much easier to do. Been playing with the distortion on my amp and getting some really cool sounds. I'm still not quite sure how distortion works, something about turning up the gain and turning down the volume. And I have a reverb function which makes...

Chords as folows - Dm,Bb,C,Dm times 5 Dm,Bb,C,A,C C#m7,G#7,C,D,E,E7 Also F#m,B7 As the song starts and finishes on Dm,would this be the correct key? And what are the best indicators of the correct key? I am learning a scale pattern that...

Not one for the Rockettets but rather a piece that either looks or sounds really hard even if it's dead simple. I suspect that the Beatles' Blackbird isn't supposed to be, so it might be bad technique on my part. There's a part that goes something like: ---------3--------------5- -5--------------7--------- -----0------0------0----- --------------------------- -3------4------5------6- --------------------------- I...

Ok, I made the recording. I'm not a very good instructor, lol. But I did my best. Would anyone still want this?

Lumpy makes the point that "I'm just a beginner" is often a cop-out. I often excuse myself from doing things well (or even doing things right) because "I'm just starting out." Behind this seems to be the assumption that it's excusable to be (sound) bad if I'm just a beginner. I work with teens and notice that they tend to view beginners differently....

There are only 8 notes in an octave and thus only 8 notes in any given scale? Right? So where do 13th and 9th notes come from if there are only 8 notes in an octave and only 8 in a scale/ Or do I have things figured wrong?

Hi Stephen I have really found your bass run articles usefull. I have a couple of simple questions. 1. what do you mean by emphasisng a note in a chord? 2. in general how do you exceute the bass runs. You mentioned to use them sparingly but when do you hit the connecting notes? (at the beginning of the measure, 2 beat ..) thanks Joe Hi Joe Thanks...

Hi everyone, I have a question to ask: I've been practicing guitar for several months now --- I started on acoustic and now I'm doing most of my practice on electric. The chord that I'm having the most difficulty with is the F chord, which is fingered by pressing down the first two strings at the 1st fret with the left hand index finger. The trouble...

For beginners, a bass run from D to Bm is a little difficult because the most common run lands on a B note and to get a Bm chord with a B note in the bass we have to use a bar chord: 224432 This is an Am chord moved up two frets. Not up to bar chords? See below. If you can play the Bm bar chord, the bass run is from D to C# to B. Play the...
