Ok, so I changed the pickups in my mexican strat. I put in Texas specials. It seems really quiet. I opened it up and made sure that I didn't have any cold solder joints etc. It is still quiet. (Meaning that I turn my practice amp up quite a bit just to hear it) Could this be the Volume pot that is being used? What is the normal value for a volume pot in...

I reallt like desi's book fretboard theory and hispentatonic scale and the caged system dvd. It really helps to hear songs used that you know to help with where the y come from . Desi's web site is a great place to learn songs as well .check out his you tube site.

Hi. I've been learning guitar for a couple of months. I'm using Mel Bay Mastering the Guitar 1A. Anyway page 30: Slides The question is which fingers to use to play a slide? Suppose I want to slide to the 3rd fret on the first string(G). I start on the first fret(F)and slide up to G. Now which finger should I start the slide with? The first finger...

How To Play Guitar : http://howtoplay-guitar.blogspot.com, Guitar is a popular stringed and fretted musical instrument that is used to create rhythm or music simply by strumming or plucking its string. Guitar is one of the oldest and most popular musical instruments that are still in use today. The fact that everybody loves music is the main aspect of...

I own a Crafter ES335 clone and it sounds wonderful. However it has one flaw that is annoying. With the pickup selector in the centre, turn the volume down on either pickup and you loose both pickups...I thought this was just shoddy design or error, but after a trip back to the shop and playing several new so called "Name Brand" guitars with similar 2volume+2Tone...

Hi everyone, I have a question to ask about fingering a G major open chord. For added background, I'm playing on an electric, not acoustic. . In one of the books I have, which I learned many initial guitar fingerings from, it recommends that G open chord is best fingered and practiced using the left hand fingers 2,3,4 as opposed to using 1,2,3. The...

Wife is having major trouble getting her '88 Fender Strat 57 RI playing right. Had it for 6 months or so. It's been well maintained, well played, in excellent shape, frets don't look overly worn and from what I've read and looked at on various websites, they're well within the playable range. It has been cleaned (the pots), set up and new strings installed...

I have been playing guitar for 10 years now and I am in a band " Back Stage Pass" as a guitarist and I have found Desi's book Fret Board Theory to be extremely helpful. I like the way he presents the material and the way he relates theory to practical songs. I own the Pentotonic and Caged Theory DVDs and find them well done. I appreciate the fact that...

As I mentioned in another post, yesterday I took the twelve-gauge strings off of my steel-string acoustic guitar, and then I put on some eight-gauge strings. Everything went just fine, except that I ended up with a wolf note on the number-five string, when played unfretted. Since I converted my guitar into a five-string model awhile back, I then did an...

It's been nearly 40 years since I have used nylon strings and have no idea what type/gauge/brand to get to replace the ones on my girlfriends classical (no ball at the end of the string) guitar. She is a beginner so has no callous buildup at all and has very small hands (I question whether she shouldn't be using a guitar with a narrower neck but it is...
