This is my latest recording of one of the recital pieces I am working on. The recital will be done on a classical guitar. The recording was done on my 12 sring, a little bit more of a challange. http :// geocities, com /castlebravo242@att,net /andantino.mp3 Bob

I went to the Home Recording forum and it was dead so I came here, now that I have a tiny bit of knowledge on modes I wanted to record something. I must say I have a tiny bit of knowledge on simple home recording also, very tiny. I have a Fast Track USB Pro interface from Maudio. I never really used it too much because I can't hear my guitar while...

My music theory with chords and chord construction is pretty good. I understand the major scale and the scale degrees. I understand keys. What is giving me a hard time getting in my head is the concept of modes. For instance in the key of C if you start on the 2nd note, D and then play the same notes that are in the key of C, you have a scale called...

Hi Folks, I was asked a question about being able to figure out the chords to a song if you only know the melody and was hoping that someone could shed some light in how to figure this out. For example, lets say, instead of trying to figure out the key, and chords, you just have a melody line and want to figure out which chords go with the melody...

I was studying a song yesterday and came across a chord that I didn't agree with until I saw the next note in the bass. For instance, using your example, I saw CEG but in the score it said Am7. This had me...

Hi, I am fairly new to the guitar and I am having trouble with breaking strings. I tried to fit a new top E string to my strat copy and the new string broke before I had even taken up all the slack. It broke about 1/2 inch from the tuner. There was very little tension as I had only turned the tuner 1/2 turn. What am I doing wrong?

I just replaced strings on my Ibanez JSM100 and have been able to tune all the strings except the B. I am using standard open tuning and the B string bounces the needle of the tuner all over the place but never gets close to the B. Any suggestions?

In recent years the addition of so many musical styles has emerged. Many people now want to learn how to play guitar. Unfortunately, most of these want-to-be guitar-players never make it past learning three chords. As a guitarists myself, I know the challenges of learning to play an instrument. I also know how to overcome most of these challenges. In this...

just a general questions on melody. 1) no matter what form of music, jazz, flamenco, cuban, funk, afro- beat, the melody in these form of music moves by step and not by leaps. basically the melodies move using similar contours and intervallic spaces? this just leads me to another question, 2) what makes melodies characteristic of certain forms of music,...

Thanks for this. Seems to work ok for standard notation, didn't try it for tab. Sure beats drawing things by hand with a drawing program like I've been doing till now. And it's nice to be able to play back the composition. Paul P

just a basic question on flamenco, on flamenco songs, what are those little melodic lines(embellishments) inserted in between chords? and is improvisation used in flamenco playing usually. i understand that at one point flamenco cliche lines were improvised. my main goal is to get that phrygian sounding line when i improv. is it just using a root, b2,...
