I bought a ProTools setup a year or two ago, never used it, am selling the MBox2 that was part of it. Never used, but no box, manuals, etc., as I have no clue what I did with them. http :// cgi.ebay, com /ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270629500166 -S-

I played a multi-band charity gig this past weekend on an outdoor stage at a large local club. 40 minute sets. The sound guy miked the drums and two guitar amps and handed me a DI box. The following discussion is paraphrased: Him: "Run through this." Me: "My amp has a really good post-EQ DI. I'd rather use that." Him: "But if your amp dies I'll lose...

Well this has been an interesting week. I picked up a bunch of sub gigs when I wasn't even trying, which is good, but half of them are train wreck gigs, which is bad. I played a private party with a blues garage band on Saturday, and it was great and paid really well, but half way through the first set my QSC PLX 1602 power amp shut off. I...

is it actually possible to play a fretless bass and not sound like a JP's clone? I wonder sometimes if the sound of the instrument has become so "embedded" in people's ears that it can (almost) never be eradicated... Regards to all

I remember when Ronald Reagan was pres. Man, that guy looked like he was 40 when he was 70. If I ever get old I want to be like him. Guess what happened? I got old! But I sure as hell am not ready to be old. I don't think old, I don't act old, and I don't feel old and my friends and bandmates aren't old. My balding head and graying hair are disgusting...

I have a Fender Dual Bass 400 amp. It's from the 80s. I bought used in 2002. It has been a very reliable amp. This past Saturday I was playing it through my usual Hartke 4-10 aluminum cone cabinet. About 30 minutes into the set, the volume dropped noticeably (but not completely) and there was some static. I kept playing and plucked a note a little harder...

Anyone done any work along these lines? Saw an ad for it, the midweek hours are a bit taxing, but on the plus side, given that the band is basically a back up for any "blow ins" that are willing to jam on stage, one probably gets to learn a lot of things quite rapidly... Cheers

Occasionally, I have seen this sort of thing advertised for sale: http :// www .rocknrollvintage, com /prodimages/1967 marshall jtm 50 plexi amp%20b1.jpg The question is whether there is a market for (original) vintage amps (as there is say for musical instruments)?? Has anyone invested (or has) one of these amps? Are they collectibles? I am not sure I could...

Why are bass players so loud? At rehearsals you can hardly hear them but get them on stage.... Pt

Not sure if anyone has caught this documentary. Part 1 was on last night on the ABC. To quote from the ABC site "Through the course of the series, scientists – with the aid of philosophers, spiritual leaders, and musicians themselves – all help to provide an in-depth look at the power of music." I found it quite intriguing, particularly the discussion...

Assuming one has at least some shred of a chart to read, often the lighting is not good enough to make out what's on the paper...Do you guys have a portable music stand light that you take with you? I have seen these advertised at the local ALDI store (no commercial or other affiliations implied) http :// www .ozbargain, com .au/deals/aldi,com .au Cheer...

can anyone advise on an all-in-one effects pedal that models decently and has the usual effects? phase, tremalo, chorus, octaver, distortion, envelop filter, expression pedal and switches between presets easily. it needs to sounds decent live and loud too. would like to hear from those who actually use these things. tia, klaw

can make life difficult when playing an electric/acoustic bass with 4 band EQ...I do carry a spare but last night, the sucker just kept playing up - is this a common problem, is there any fix (I even resorted to using paper to push to battery down..)... PS - one battery was relatively new, like 3 months old, the other brand new... Cheers

I am doing one set that is all acoustic/electric. Other sets are all electric. I don't want to drag an acoustic amp to a gig. I have more than enough to carry now. I don't want to go direct into the board either. What is available like maybe a DI for acoustic or something along those lines that you like? Pt

Is anyone using gig bags for 2 electric basses. I used to be very skeptical about gig bags - but I've been using my single bass bag almost all the time recently - and as long as the bass(es) aren't going to be bouncing around in the boot (trunk) is seems safe and protective enough. Since finishing the 8 string bass I find I'm once again carrying two basses...
