Well my adventure with Pro Tools continues, I decided to jump right in and try adding bass parts to some home recordings from the singer I'm working with. She sent me a couple Mp3 files she recorded at home, just vocals and guitar, and I plugged my Stambaugh straight into the M-Box without running it through a preamp or a cabinet. Now that I know...

Keyboard guy just emailed the band, saying he's got a sudden urge to play "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" at our next gig. Told him I had a sudden craving for oatmeal cookies with raisins & walnuts. We have a deal. His wife's making them tonight. Try it in your band. It could eliminate endless debates.

I've got a chance to pick up a piece of PA rack gear on the cheap, an ART graphic EQ (dual 15-band). However, I have no idea of how effective that might be when applied to a bass rig. I know I'd only have use for one channel of the unit, which is fine, but I don't know if the lower freqs of a stereo graphic EQ are spaced out well enough across the bass...

Got a new temporary sax player who's filling in while we search for someone permanent, whatever that means. Great player, great guy. But he was having terrible problems last night with his Shure PSM200 wireless system (for clip-on sax mic). (See link below for electronix comix). Couldn't get him into the PA mix. It was a crowded stage and his rack of...

I want to send my Eden amp to an authorized repair shop and according to the Eden website M-Troniks in Mesa, AZ is the closest one outside of California. Any of you guys in and around Phoenix have a good or bad experience with them? Thanks in advance. BTW....I dusted off my Ampeg SVT III Pro and it still sounds like shit. Bob Walker www .walker-e...

Hey everyone, I've been learning Pro Tools, I finally have a computer set up in my studio running Pro Tools LE 7.4 with an old 2-input Mbox. Not the flashiest system but it should get the job done. It's been very frustrating so far, even with a 700 page guide book I'm still pretty lost and making tons of mistakes as I learn but I'm starting...

One thing I picked up years ago (dont get bent if its already been said, I didnt see it) is Singers use 3 different areas of the body to sing. 4 if you've had a big feed of Corned Beef and Cabbage ANYway. First we have the strait throat tone (self explanatory). Second we have the what I call " face tone" utilizing the facial nasal cavities to get tone....

My band's running an ad for a sax player. Ad says "Please call if interested". Part of the audition process involves determining whether people are brave enough to speak into a telephone, or if they think the device will suck out their souls. So naturally, the first respondent emailed instead. He said "Google using my first & last names and you should...

Yes, I've posted here before about my distaste for Dub and Reggae. Well, I've grown to like it. Some of it at least. Still hate anything/anyone to Bob Marley though. Both songs. Looking for good quality stuff folks. Stranger the better. The Clash dub songs got me rolling, so that's where I'm coming from. TIA! -- -rob O> /(\) ^^...

Does anybody know where to find bass books (hopefully with their audio tracks) on Usenet, specifically The Latin Bass Book By Oscar Stagnaro and Chuck Sher ? Thanks in advance!
