I've been thinking for awhile now about adding some simple blues harp to my repertoire. Just really plain simple for starters, but I cannot seem to find out which one I should buy, though I know what I am looking for: What I want is a harp that can be used in the standard "funk jam in E dorian/mixolydian" situation - I guess that would take two harps,...

I clipped this from alt.pro audio. Never heard of such a thing but I guess it happens. Check the thread. It's one of the first few and titled "How did this happen". Played an original gig with the singer I produced at Duke University last night, opening for 2 bands from Oberlin college. (No, I didn't get paid). Our set went well, no problems. Me, singer, and a young guitarist. I need to teach the other two how to open up songs and go with the crowd energy though. They just play everything straight down the chart and...

Has anybody seen this issue yet ? Supposedly someone has Jaco's Bass and came forward with it. Only thing is when they got it it was smashed so they repaired it and refinished it with a figured top, doesn't look anything like the original. Several name players are on there vouching for it. The only thing that makes me think it's a hoax is that it's the April...

I know this has been covered before but I was wondering if anybody had tried these. Are they stiffer than the Hi Beams or about the same? How do they sound in comparison? Oh, and has anyone tried the Markley Anthony Jackson set or the new Whopper combo?

I got to see Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band tonight and, while it's not really bass-related I thought you guys might like to hear about it. My dad is a huge Springsteen fan, in fact he saw him for the first time *33* years ago! Every year my dad likes to pull a big Christmas surprise and get someone in the family a nice gift or do something...

how to play guitar, Even if you never have played melodies on your guitar before the time has come now! You will learn to play guitar tab and a very popular melody even if you do not know sheet music notation. Pick up your guitar and let's start! We will first take a look at the lyrics of the first verse: Amazing grace! How sweet the sound! That...

I am really leaning towards one of these new light weight Class D amps (especially today since I am in agony "after" having a deep tissue massage-bad back doesn't begin to describe it). Anyway, I have done a little reading but much of it is over my head. Can we expect these switch mode power supplies to last many, many years like the old fashioned back...

Okay, this is a mighty long shot, but does anyone know how Japanese reissues (particularly a '57 maple) would compare to the Mexican Classic series (particularly the 50s P)? I love the oh-so-chunky neck on the MIM Classic 50s but am considering getting an MIJ '57 reissue for a project. Anyone? Thanks, -jb

The fifth Clash member? Maybe, maybe not, but the stuff he did with them on Sandinista! truly brought reggae and dub to the attention of the white punk "establishment", if that's not an oxymoron. Here's a tribute from Auntie Beeb in the YooKay; scroll to about halfway through: http :// www .bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/mainframe.shtml? http :// www .bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/radio4_aod.shtml?radio4/last_word Scariest...

I swear, I cannot remember to unplug my bass when I get done practicing and keep running down the battery. I love the Audere pre-amp I put in my J-bass but it's been so many years since I had an active instrument (about 27, a MM Stingray ll guitar) that I never think to unplug it. What make it such a bitch is, with the Audere the entire jack plate...
