Going to learn to play Bass (for my own amusement only). Bought a used Fender Jazz Bass. I don't want any small practice type amplifier even though it's going to be in the house only. I've come down to the Fender Rumble series. For the difference in cost I decided to go beyond a Rumble 60 at $249 and decided to spend an extra $80 for the Rumble...

Coupling What is it? TO me, it's when the cab rests flat on the floor (or stage) thus producing a better sound than when the cab is off the floor (casters). Once in a while a stage is hollow underneath. TO me, in this scenario, cpuoling is not a good thing because you can increase boominess if the right frequencies are being matched bvwtweent...

I was rummaging around in our junk shed looking for some old ball bearing swivel casters I was pretty sure I'd kept. I found them and also found my old BOSS BE 5B multi FX pedal. I thought I tossed this thing out 17 years ago because it quit working. But I am a notorious pack rat so... Anyway I thought what the hell. I had a BOSS power supply so...

Anyone own / familiar with this bass head? Especially interested in how much noise might be in the DI. Actually, any comments at all would be welcome. Thanks

We were playing for 30 people. Just at the end of the first set, we played Lady Marmalade. I have a kind of solo (enhaced groove) in the middle of the song. I broke the G string. First time for me. I mean, it's Murphy's law again. First time I don't bring a backup bass. I never carry spare strings, because I always bring a backup bass... Short story:...

Maybe a bit off topic, sorry for that - but jesus this program (American idol) is bloody awful... Do they not have any proper sound crew or have auditions to clear out the debris beforehand??

I'm sure this subject has been covered before, but I am asking anyway :) First, by way of explanation: I've been playing since 1979, but took one of those infamous breaks from about 1993 thru 2005. I find that my style has changed since resuming playing, but the thing that I am interested in here is regarding string action. In the "old days" I was very...

----OK, several months ago,we get a request for a corporate gig in Atlanta in our band email. We're a weekend warrior classic rock band in Miami, 500 or so miles away. Jokingly, (we think it's an error, after all) we reply we'll do it for $3K, but if they can provide airfare, accommodations, backline, lighting, and pa, we'll be able to do it for considerably...

Just took a listen to the "Look Sharp" album by Joe Jackson - haven't heard it in years. I forgot how big the role of the bass was. It had a great sound. Anybody know any details about the bass(ist)? -- Write a wise saying and your name will live forever. - Anonymous

Learning a bunch of songs that you don't end up playing! Twice this week I've subbed in on a gig with short notice. "it's all songs you know...no problem" I get the song list for this weekend's gig, and I don't even recognize the names of the songs. Any songs I do recognize aren't the versions I know. Earlier in the week I sub in for an original act....

Hi, has the Ashdown Little giant 1000 been released into the wild in America yet?. I am waiting for the release over here in the UK, but I don't think I will buy it straight away until I get an idea of how useful it really is. Has anyone tried it out yet, what can we expect from it. Hotfoot

Does anyone know the difference between an MM1, MM2 and MM 3 OLP Stingray Bass? I have an older one that I want to sell, but I notice that the ones being sold new today have bodies are more squared off than this with a little less contour to the body? Does that make sense to anyone?
