I'm hacking together an FDMS-3 ripper program for the Fostex FDMS-3 filesystem. I haven't found anything suitable for Windows, and it seemed like a fun thing to do. You have to crack the case, find a spare IDE connector, hook up the drive (after removing it from the VF16/VF160, of course) so it's not too convenient, but I know some people are using...

I have a Epiphone EB-O copy bass. My question is what are the best strings for it.

Electricity is a little bit like water, enough so that we can use water as an analogy. If you have two reservoirs of water, one higher than the other, and the physical block between them is removed, then the water in the higher reservoir will flow to the lower reservoir, until they are at equilibrium. If you have two electrical conductors that are charged...

I was at an open jam last night. They had a Fender Rumble 100 combo for bass. The guitarists were using various combo amps - no stacks. The drums did not have mics. The Rumble really couldn't keep it (not unusual at 100W and one speaker). So, I went to check out the reviews online to what others had to say. The very first review I saw could have easily...

Hello newsgroup, I hope you can help me. I'm playing e-guitar and acoustic guitar for some years just for my onwn. Now my heart decided that I have to play Bass guitar, but I really know _nothing_ about a bass guitar. So can you please advice me some cool pages where I can read some basic things which I have to know before I buy a bass guitar ? For...

I've been listening to Lord Kitchner and want to know what these bass lines are. Maybe common to calypso. Sounds like just off the beat of one and two but not sure. Can someone explain? thanks, jt

I just received a set of the Duncan Antiquity II pups. I've not set them up yet, but they are pretty impressive in their packaging etc. I'm curious is anyone has compared these pups in the past. I just finished this bass and sold it on Ebay: http :// smg.photobucket,com /albums/v434/rschuh/album5/?action=view¤t=1afinishedseafoam.jpg http :// smg.photobucket,com /albums/v434/rschuh/album5/?action=view¤t=1afinishedseafoam2.jpg http :// smg.photobucket,com /albums/v434/rschuh/album5/?action=view¤t=1afinishedseafoam3.jpg http :// smg.photobucket,com /albums/v434/rschuh/album5/?action=view¤t=1afinishedseafoam4.jpg http :// smg.photobucket,com /albums/v434/rschuh/album5/?action=view¤t=1afinishedseafoam5.jpg http :// smg.photobucket,com /albums/v434/rschuh/album5/?action=view¤t=1afinishedseafoam6.jpg http :// smg.photobucket,com /albums/v434/rschuh/album5/?action=view¤t=1afinishedseafoam7.jpg http :// smg.photobucket,com /albums/v434/rschuh/album5/?action=view¤t=1afinishedseafoam8.jpg http :// smg.photobucket,com /albums/v434/rschuh/album5/?action=view¤t=1afinishedseafoam9.jpg http :// smg.photobucket,com /albums/v434/rschuh/album5/?action=view¤t=1afinishedseafoam10.jpg http :// smg.photobucket,com /albums/v434/rschuh/album5/?action=view¤t=1afinishedseafoam11.jpg http :// smg.photobucket,com /albums/v434/rschuh/album5/?action=view¤t=1afinishedseafoam12.jpg I...

I think every bass design, no matter how great, has a special unique flaw. Of course, it's all subjective. But I think each bass's unique flaw is one of the things that gives it its charm (or makes it really annoying). I haven't played every bass on the market, but I've played a few different ones that represent some different design styles. A couple...

First, the caveats. This is an academic question by someone unschooled in music theory. It won't change how I play the song. However, every time we have one of these discussions, I get a little bit more edjamacated. You might recall that several months ago I had some serious fluid in my ears that wrecked my hearing for a while. It was so bad I really...

My roots are in blues and classic rock. I'm in an original alternative rock band right now. I enjoy it, but I'm finding it a bit stifling doing just originals. For my own enjoyment and growth I'd like to be a better funk player. I'd like some suggestions for what you guys would consider songs that really capture the essence of funk. Thanks in advance. --...

I saw P.O.D. on TV last night. One of the late night shows. I have only heard "of" them, first time hearing their music so don't know anything about them. Anyway they were doing an "unplugged' type set. The bass player had a AC50. I thought it sounded really good. Has me even more interested in getting one. SotR

Has anyone here uploaded a clip to YT? I just learned how to record to my computer (yes I am a 4 track analog dinosaur and a moron). Thanks to Kim Komando and her free DL of Audacity I now can create digital files. I did do some webcam direct to sound card stuff that sounded like crap. But I am asking if there is anything special I need to do to put...

Two New York musicians booked a gig in Washington, D.C. but never got there. Everytime they passed a sign that said "D.C.", they turned around and went back to NY.
