To squeeze more money from those in the kingdom of course. Oh and to encourage transit use by making driving suck more. http :// www .thenewspaper, com /news/24/2415.asp <...> Under a $153 million federal grant approved in April, Mayor Richard M. Daley (D) will remove lanes from general purpose use on the city's busiest streets and devote them exclusively...

Hi Viatologists, As of 10-Jun-2008, the Worldwide Transportation Library provides geographic coordinates for 15.84% of its 2,209 road photographs. Through retroactive action, the 'Operation Coordinates' program will increase the per centage of photographs containing coordinates over time. Hi all, I have lurked here off and on for some time. I find this group to be informative, opinionated and humorous to follow. I live in Indiana. Here the state police along with many local law enforcement branches are allowed to use their police cruisers for personal use while not on duty. This irritates me to no end. I personally, as a tax payer,...

It always cracks me up when some speed demon in a top-heavy SUV tries to pass me with a curve coming up. I'll be in the right lane with my CC set to 72, and the twerp will catch up, begin to crawl past, and then suddenly drop back as we get into the curve because he feels like his truck is about to tip over. :) Today when it happened, Roger Ramjet was...

There was a full-page ad in the newspaper today. "6 Reasons to buy shares of HYBR now!" It was informing readers of the availability of shares of a firm that "has recorded year-over-year revernue growth in the past three quarters..." An opportunity was also mentioned: the distributor/dealership progam. They are "using the latest lithium battery technology.." (I...

In the new soviet america, everything needs a license, including dancing. I was following a car going 55 in a 60 zone. A driver behind me started tailgating, as if I was supposed to do something about the other driver without a passing zone. I did get an opportunity later to make the faster driver happy. The road widened to two lanes and allowed for passing. I expected that the slower driver would stay in the right lane...

Lots of tire theft going on now along with gas theft and cat-con theft. But i don't think locking lug nuts really work cause you can buy nut busters that break them off easily.

New video for your roadgeeking enjoyment: GA57 - sometimes referred to as the Wiregrass Trail - from Ludowici, GA to Eulonia, GA. Of note, the road passes along the northern edge of the Townsend Bombing Range and a couple of small bombers (I think they were warthogs, but its impossible to tell in the video) can be seen passing over the tree tops. http :// blip.tv/file/975652 Video...

This story confirms my own impressions that congestion is getting worse, not better. Every morning I can see the traffic stopped cold on the northbound 5; the backup seems to extend a little bit farther south every month. As many people know, speed traps are often run with unmarked police vehicles. Police doing their best to hide to bring in money for their employers. Other criminals often take advantage of this and decide to do their best to appear to be police. Police in turn say it is acceptable for us, the people, to travel to a 'well lit, populated area'. Gee... ya think...

Hi Viatologists, Taipei's been great, but now it's time to cross the Pacific and into the United States! In northern California, the Golden Gate Bridge is a quintessential piece of history and tourism. So it should not be surprising that our newest photographer, $B9u@nE/O:(B (Tetsuro Kurokawa), would snap photographs of it while heading to Humboldt...
