Started off to work the next day and as I slowed down it jumped out of gear started slipping. I could stop put it back in drive and it drove a couple miles then...

I want to be able to listen to the radio and have the drivers door open. Of course, the chiming is annoying. I don't see a old style pin switch to depress to stop the chiming. Where is the switch? I don't want to disable the chime because it comes in handy for the parking/headlight mionder. Jay

No grinding just hard to get into gear with clutch all the way down. While at a stop, effort is less if you go from 2nd to 1st gear then let out the clutch. My syncros ? Trans oil and rear diff oil have recently been changed and there is no difference.

Hello All. I tried to start my Explorer last night. The engine turned, but it didn't start. I tried again. The engine didn't start either, but this time smoke came from under the hood. It wasn't an electrical fire, but had the odor of unburnt gas. I checked under the hood. Everything looked OK. The engine started this time. After the engine rpm reached...

Re: The radio with 6-disc CD changer in my '02 Explorer. This unit has worked well since Day 1, until recently when the audio developed a kind of frog-in-the-throat distortion. Since the problem happened on all four channels simultaneously, I don't think I've blown a speaker, nor have I popped an amplifier output stage, nor is it a wiring problem....

What to buy ? a 4 cyl SUV ? My sister lives in the San Fran Bay Area, CA. She has 2 children who are 16 and 14. So they are quite tall. She is looking for a 4 cylinder SUV that will accomodate her kids comfortably in the rear seat. She does not need a 4x4 / all AWD. She was told that she would have to buy 6 or 8 cyl SUVs if she wants more leg room...

I have a '98 Explorer and after a shop visit, was told I have mice living in it. (As I mainly walk to work, it sits for days at a time.) There were no obvious signs of the critters except the mechanic smelling mice urine while inside. Anyone ever have this problem with their Explorer? If so, where would be the places in the vehicle that they would most...

Hello, I have recently been tuning up my 93 ford explorer xlt. I got a code reader and did the KOEO test and the code 33 came up. Now I am a little confused as it came up as follows *-*-*----*-*-*---------------*-*-*---*-*-* from the reader. Some one told me that I maybe reading this wrong and really I am getting 111 several times which could mean that...

I have a 1993 ford explorer and the vehicle was envolved in a collision and there is an emergency fuel shut off switch. There is also a reset button and I need to know where it is located.

My explorer has 80,000 and recently I have notice a low pitched noise from the rear of the truck. It varies with speed and it's not very loud. It may be a wheel bearing or something else. Anyone else had a similar problem? How do you find if there has been a service notice or recall? Thanks for any help. Jim
