1998 Explorer with rear disk brakes. I didn't realize that the rear brake pads are not identical. One end of each pad has a notch, otherwise they appear identical. Does the notch ride on the upper or lower rail? Or does it even matter? No reference in the factory manual and pads are not identified with either a "R" or a "L".

I need to replace some of the instrument cluster bulbs. Is there a step by step instruction list for the removal and reinstall of the instrument cluster for a 1995 Eddie Bauer Explorer? Thanks.

92 with 191k on it and automatic transmission. The speedo has gotten erratic and reads all over the place. Can the core be replaced from the head end only, without disconnecting it from the tranny? What is the approved lube for the core? If I can do it from the head end, it is a DIY job. I am no longer able to crawl under the car to get at the transmission...

I just purchased a mint 1994 Explorer EB and I would like to know if there is a way to adjust how long the headlights stay on once I turn the car off.

Good Evening, I found an earlier post (2004) on this topic but no clear solution. Any ideas on why my auto trans won't downshift to 1st gear when manually placed into 1st gear? It will limit itself to first gear only when accelerating in 1st gear but it won't allow engine breaking to decelerate on decents. It seams like it is in neutral when no gas is...

Hi, I have a 93 explorer sport 4x4 and the right front brake rotor is warped pretty badly. It has been like this for a few years and I just lived with it. Well I need to do front brakes on the thing this weekend and was thinking of replacing the rotor at the same time and while I am at it put in new wheel bearings. Is removing the rotor a tough process?...

99' Explorer Limited V8 A few days ago I was impatient and got on it really hard. It started missing as I let off. When warm at idle there is an occasional miss but, when driving it is more noticeable especially when accelerating. I went to 'Zone' and another place and had it read (CEL is on) and it had code P0300, "random/multiple cylinder misfire...

I have a 98 Mountaineer. I have power coming to my head unit but no sound. I was told that the Amp fuse might be blown. I removed the rear 1/4 panel and I see 2 plugs coming into either side of the amp but no fuse. Where is the fuse located? Is there a kit so I can keep my factory radio and bypass the amplifier? Thanks

...There is and has been a raw gas smell with my 94 Explorer (113k miles) for a few months-I figure it may be related to the fume canister and solenoid system, but am not sure.?? After doing more testing I noticed a tiny amount of liquid when I removed the vacuum line attached to the fuel pressure regulator and I'm am now wondering it it is the issue...

This is the deal. I had the emergency brake on on my truck because my driveway has a slant to it. I went to go and leave so I released the emergency brake and then turned my car on. I then put the car in reverse so that I could leave. The truck wouldn't move. I tried it in drive. The truck wouldn't move. I put it in neutral and it still wouldn't go anywhere....

When I start the car and it's cold, there's never a problem. However, when the car is warmed up, about 50% of the time when I stop at a light, or turn off the car and then restart it very soon after, it has a very rough idle and seems like it will stall. Once I do get going, it seems fine! What could this be?? Thanks for your help.

Whenever I start my 2000 Ford Explorer the RPMs start at 1000 and drop down to 500. Sometimes its starts for a second then dies all together. Then there are other times where it starts fine and holds RPMs, but when I am halfway to my destination, the RPMs will drop back down to 500 and feel like its about to die. I've tried cleaning and lubricating the...

I am trying to find a piece to bridge the gap between the rear door on my 2000 ford explorer and the rear window cause everytime I turn on my rear wiper, it gets stuck between the two. I already burned up my wiper motor cause once it gets stuck there, the motor is trying to fight the blade being stuck and not working properly. So if anyone knows where...
