2001 Explorer Sportrac 4wd, the wipers do not pulse. They work in continuous mode, but do not work in delay mode. Is this problem a relay somewhere? TIA, Rafael

History.... 94 explorer XLT, 118,000 on A4LD tranny. I changed the modulator because it was leaking tranny fluid. NOT thru the vacuum line but it was a bad seal and was leaking onto the ground from the modulator. Well I got in the truck to take it for a test spin and the first time out it was perfect, that was till the tranny warmed up. Once warmed up...

This shows a generic code for "Insufficient Coolant Temperature for Closed Loop Fuel Control". Does anyone have an idea which sensor would cause this code? Is it the engine temperature sensor C159 on the radiator? Maybe the engine coolant temperature sensor on the engine C163? Could this be a computer problem? Any help would be appreciated, I have been...

The front brakes on my 93 Explorer are not releasing once I activate them. I also believe that the wheel bearings are going out. Is there a way to fix the brake calipers without having to replace them and has anyone else encountered this problem? Thanks in advance, Jason

Hi: I am new to the group and have a problem with my 1992 Explorer. the other day I needed to use the 4x4 in the snow. I selected 4x4 via the dash panel..........the light came on............but the vehicle did NOT operate in 4 wheel. I tried deselecting etc but to no avail. Also when I select 4 low the light does not come on. My mechanic is stumped for...

Just bought a 98' Explorer and had some questions regarding some noise I hear under the hood. The truck starts fine, idles fine everything works great. When I go to drive off after a minute or so from a fresh start, the engine makes a clicking or rattling sound in rhythm with the revolutions of the engine heard only when I accellerate. The noise seems to...

I have a 96 EB AWD V8 with 242K miles on it. The headlights are starting to take on that yellowed appearance. Has anyone else tried any of the aftermarket OEM replacements, or the "Diamond cut lenses"? Which provided greater light output without blinding oncoming drivers, and still retained the OEM aiming capabilities?

For those of you who have or had a manual Explorer, what kind of like did you get out of the clutch. Per my other recent posts here, I've just brought my XLT tot he dealer for a clutch pedal problem. And the dealer is suggesting that now - 85,000 miles - is a reasonable time to do the clutch anyway. I was hoping it would go lots further than 85,000. I'm very...

Hey all, I've got one I can't figure out and would definately appreciate some thoughts and feedback. I've got a 98 5L V8 XLT AWD. The problem is that when I am in Drive and hit the gas I get a clicking noise, sounds like a loose belt but I'm not 100% sure. The sound is worse when the engine is cold, starting out from a stop or going up a hill. It is NOT...

Hello All Per my earlier post (Clutch issue 92), I've decided, as advised, to have the clutch fluid replaced. A Ford dealer says they can do this and test the system at the same time. The dealer has a $90/hour rate. That seems a bit high (northern Westchester, NY) Just wondering what rates shop rates - dealer and non-dealer are other seeing these days? Thanks. Tony...

I recently replaced all 4 shocks myself and I held off on replacing the rear axle damper. I was just wondering if anyone else replaced theirs and if you noticed a difference in ride? Is it mostly for off roading?

Hello All Just wondering if anyone has suggestions. My 92 XLT (85,000) exhibited a clutch pedal -to the-floor problem last night. The clutch reservoir took a little fluid, but was mostly full - so it doesn't seem like a leak somewhere, as often is indicated here and other boards in response to sinking clutch pedal problems. The Explorer was outside...

The passenger-side fog lamp on my 2005 Explorer took a rock and cracked. Other than my friendly neighborhood Ford dealership, can anyone recommend another source (on-line or otherwise) for a genuine OEM or aftermarket replacement? I use them frequently and need quality & reliability. Thanks!
