Hi there, I have just acquired a 1999 UK model Explorer and I have an annoying problem. On start-up (and at apparently random times whilst driving) it emits 5 bursts of 5 beeps (the same beep as when you open the door with the key in the ignition). At first I thought it was a frost warning as it seemed to go off when the temp dropped to 3C (about 40F),...

Not sure if this has been covered in the forum before or not, but I took my 1993 Explorer Sport in to the dealership I got it at (I know, big mistake...) and they would not pass it for inspection because the ABS light was on, and apparently one of the wires was missing going to one of the front sides. Is there a way to make the light go out for the ABS...

I cannot find this default code anywhere. I have looked under the dash, looked in the driver side rear jack storage compartment and under the hood. I checked all over the internet and everyone says it is in the jack compartment on a silver or black computer box. Not in my jack compartment!!! Only things in there are the jack and the fuel filler hump...

The rear left power window on my 2004 Explorer stopped working. Dealer claims it needs some kind of shim to make it work (dealer says motor is OK). Dealer says the Ford Extended Service Plan does not cover this!! I can't find anything in the Extended Service Plan (best one that is offered) that says it is NOT covered.(I have a $50 deductible) Last time...

Hello all, Just want to say thanks for the help in the past, you all have been great. I find myself facing another problem of late. When driving my 99 explorer sport the other day, I hit a series of bumps in the road and sudenly seemed to have lost my steering to the point where my truck now wants to veer off to the left and make a lound clunking...

Does anyone know if this "nitrogen in tires" thing really produces the results claimed?

I thought I'd get some input on this tough decision I have. I like my '04 Explorer XLT. It has only 38k miles, runs great and I can go ahead and buy it for a good price. I also like, much to my wife's dismay, new toys. I would love to get an '07 Explorer XLT or Bauer. Have there been really big improvements on the past three years? I'm not talking...

Got my 92 back from the tranny shop. Right at $1400 for the rebuild with 2yr/24K warranty. Asked them to save the exciting parts for me to look at. The part that caused the failure was a VERY thin radial roller bearing that appears to act as a thrust bearing for the OD planetary parts. Once it went it allowed the other parts to shift back an eighth of...

Couple of quick questions regarding my 1993 Explorer Sport. First, what would cause the driver's side window to start going down all on its own? This has been happening off and on for the past 3 weeks. If I push the up button while it's happening, it stops going down, but doesn't go up. If I wait a couple minutes, the window will go back up, and will...

My manual was stollen and I need to know which fuse needs to be changed or how to replace the light on my dash for when the 4 wheel drive is engaged for a 1993 ford explorer. Please let me know. Tiff

Hi, I have a 94 Ford Explorer XLT with a blown A/C fuse under steering column. The fuse blows again when changed. The A/C light does not come on but my blower works. I don't believe that the compressor is starting. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks, Herb

Just curious- anyone know what's the typical mileage before a valve job is needed? The original OHV V6 has cast iron heads, the SOHC has aluminum heads. In ancient times, seems like it was normal to do a valve job at 100,000 miles. I recall being amazed at the condition of the valves in the first aluminum head I saw- apparently they run cooler. -Pau...

Hi folks, please bear with me on this one.<G> A month or so ago I had questions about my 5.0 Explorer starting then quitting and then running OK. I got several quick responses about cleaning a valve, the responders called the valve by three initials (not PVC). I wrote down the valve that need cleaning and now I can't find where I put the note. Also,...
