(Cross-posted to both AAF and AMFE usenet groups) The CC on my '98 Expy (V8, AWD, Limited) failed after almost 100K of faithful service. Followed the self-test procedure in the workshop manual and didn't get very far. Not even trouble codes being flashed. Checked wiring, fuses, clock spring contacts; all fine. Well, it's a bad servo, I thought. So...

Hello, I'm having a problem, a little while ago, I was at McDonalds and was driving up and my mirror clipped one of their extended garbage cans (the ones by the drive-through so you can throw stuff out easily). Well, the mirror folded in a little bit, and the mirror still moves fine, but now the puddle lamp (drivers side) will not light up. I would really...

I am in need of replacing the front brake pads, again, on my 1994 Explorer. I am looking for a recomendation on what type of pads to install. Standard $25-$30 aftermarket pads do not seem to last and usully result in significatn build of brake dust on the wheels requireing frequent cleaning. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What is the correct Motorcraft spark plug for 2000 Limited 5.0 V8? I will probably use Motorcrafts; the originals have given me good service. Is it SP432 (Autozone shows this) or AWSF-32EE (owners manual shows this)? Thanks.

I have a '98 Explorer XLT, 5.0 V8, and fuse #10 is blown. Replacing it, of course, immediately results in another useless fuse. But tracing the problems seems like a real challenge. The fuse feeds about 10 different circuits -- compass/temp module, blend door actuator, heater a/c control, GEM, turn signal, etc. I'd rather not tear my car apart searching...

Just thought I should post my results to his group and maybe save someone a $1000+ repair bill like our local ford dealer in Bismarck, ND (there's only one so you should easily figure out who it is) tried to talk me into. Ok, here are the details. I have a 95 Explorer XL 4WD. The 4WD has not been working for a while although the dash lights come on...

I've done some searching and see what people expect to pay for the plugs and the wires, but I've seen nothing on the expected labor charges to get this take care of. I took my 99 mountaineer with the 5.0 v8 to get the plugs/wires changed out since it started running pretty rough a day ago (they are original plugs/wires with 103k). The independant shop...

The car intermittently will not crank. I hear a click but no turnover. It starts fine for a month or so and then I'll go to the store or work or something, come out a few minutes later (or could be hours later) and no starting. No crank, no turnover, just click. The battery has plenty of juice, the battery cables have been replaced (terminals cleaned...

Hi everyone, my interior lights stopped working when I open driver or any other door. I can manually turn them on but not by open the doors. Any ideas what could cause this? Thanks in advance Tino

About two weeks back, I posted a message asking about replacing the air ride on my 1997 Limited with regular shocks. The reason for this was this niggling metallic rattle that sounded like a bag of coins from inside the cabin and I could not get rid of it. I had all bushes changed (control arm, upper wishbone, stab links, stab brackets), all ball joints...

Is it possible for your struts to temporarily freeze up? I had this happen just recently where the strut on the driver's side seemed to be broken or not working very well. I would notice a very hard ride going down a main road which was mostly smooth. It was very cold out when this happened, and this continued the next day. Now the strut seems to...
