I am looking for the lowest (numerically) available 8.8. inch rear gear, something on the order of a 2.50. It seems the only ones that are still made are 3.08s. Even the 2.73s seem to be available only used. Does anyone know where I can get a rear gear that is in the 2.xxs new? TIA!

What's everyone's opinion of aftermarket -- MSD, Mallory, etc. -- distributors? After they worth the extra dollars over a stock replacement on a near stock 5-liter engine? If so, what brand do you recommend? Patrick

Did a quick Google blog search for "tfrog", and it's amazing how many online forums I've posted to that I don't remember. FordForums? No, never been there. I do recall sending those posts to this newsgroup, though... I'm a blogger, and didn't know it. :()

Sorry, it wasn't a homemade job or a factory fluke... an auto-equipped Cobra, but rather I was limping home a '93 that suffered a broken clutch cable. But I must say the experience was a driving lesson. I always knew it was possible to drive clutchless, but it wasn't something I ever tried. Yesterday I acquired the skill. When the cable let go I was...

The 45th-anniversary ride of the Mustang will be a quick one. Ford expects to build just 45,000 retail versions of the 2009 model. The car has few changes from the '08 model, and pony-car fans are already clamoring for the redesigned 2010 Mustang, which is expected to be shown later this year. Still, the plan will make the '09 considerably scarcer than...

Back in April I bid on, won and paid for a hood for my damaged '86 Capri 5.0. I currently have no hood and no refund. Orginally he sait is would ship UPS. They wouldn't take it so he asked for either more money to freight ship it or to send me a refund. I opted for the refund. That was April 22. It's been a month since he claimed he'd send my money...

I'm looking for advice on what's the best cold air intake kit to buy for my 05 V6 stang. I've been looking at the K&N ones which are cheaper than the Ford Racing kits. Any brands or models I should look out for or avoid? Anyone know what difference in noise, bhp any particular brand provides? p.s. looking to spend around $200 - $300.

Every now and then, I post here looking for input on certain mods, and one poster has replied, calling out the need for a plan, and specifically regretting the wasted money that was spent on the car without a larger plan. I've decided to post mine here, for a couple reasons - to force myself to create and commit to it, to gather feedback, and to have it...

In the spirit of the last thread *not* rehashing the air filter question, I wanted to throw out something old. The last question I put out there, someone challenged me back with the point that I should have a plan and he's right. However, the next step on my plan will cost a couple bucks, I'm saving up, yet still have the upgrade itch. While I prepare...

Far be it from me to rehash old threads, (yeah, right) but I was just flipping through a Consumer Report mag and read this little blurb under "Myth Busters" beside an article on bettering fuel mileage. I don't remember who said what, but CR says this: "A dirty air filter. Our tests show that driving with a dirty air filter no longer has any...

Anyone with experience with chips - are there any brands to stay away from?

I have a 1994 Mustang with a V-6. The brakes get a slight shimmy or pulse every now and again and I was told by the dealer it was a stuck piston in one of the front calipers. I was trying to decide between replacing the front calipers, replacing just the one that is sticking or replacing the piston that is sticking. Any thoughts if both calipers should...

Cigs for kids Those of you living out of Astro vans with tinfoil on the windows will undoubtedly see it as a vast left-wing plot to deny you of your rights, but the Canadian province of Ontario is looking at legislation which will ban smoking in cars when children under the age of 16 are aboard. According to Canwest News Service, “An Act to protect children...
