I've got a 1996 SL2 that has a dealer installed, factory made engine with about 40,000 miles on it. Oil changes at 3,000 miles etc., since we had this done. The rest of the car is in fair shape, but I think the engine would be worth the most to an enthusiast. Anyone have any idea what the $$ value is for just the engine? I'm not looking to part the car out,...

OK. I don't have to be told so. This car in the cold (40 degrees F) or lower is sluggish to move the first minute after sitting for hours. I reported this to the dealer last year. He found no error messages and said he reprogramed the transmission. The other day the car also stalled for the first time. Would a stall be recorded? Anyone else have this...

They got the 1st Astra XR 5 door at my store the other day. Got to drive it some more, very smooth ride and much more precise steering than my ION. The engine doesn't have much low end torque and is a little noisy at takeoff but gets going once in motion. I like the new radio, it works kind like working an iPod, no iPod plug though. It sits lower than...

I have noticed that through out the years of talking with people who have had their manual transmissions for years, that I observed that the older the driver, the longer the original clutch has lasted for them. No pun intended, but could it be that slower deliberate movement of the clutch pedal leads to longer clutch life? -- marx404

My 1996 SL2 is having sequential electrical failures. In order: Door locks, Radio, rear window defroster, some of the idiot lights on the dash when the key is in the "on" position (there may be others, but my daughter is the main driver and she may not have mentioned them all to me). Replaced the Ignition switch and that didn't do any good. The Battery is...

I have 96 SL2 with a standard transmission. On Monday and Tuesday, the car would not start. I turned the ignition, heard a low buzz and nothing happened. Not even clicking sound from the starter, let alone the engine cranking. The battery power works fine; I could turn on the lights and listen to the radio. Connectors on the battery are in good shape. The...

What's with this idiot posting (apparently) Bible quotes in everybody's name? It seems to be only on this group as far as I can see and it is always a Re: Now to try filtering this out. I'm all for bible study but put it in the appropriate group...

far is this from being against His glory, that it is the last touch which crowns it. For their argument, the only one found in all their writings, in the Talmud and in the Rabbinical writings, amounts only to this, that Jesus Christ has not subdued the nations with sword in hand, gladium tuum, potentissime.[153] (Is this all they have to say? Jesus Christ...

Any guess, or bet, on what might be the cause of a very recent startup problem that only seems to happen when starting up the Saturn for the first time of the day only? Weird, it starts like a rocket any other later time after that initial first-of-day startup. The battery voltage is 12v in the morning prior to startup. After I do manage to get it going,...

My 2002 saturn vue has a light that come on and off at will.I scanned it for codes with a friends scanner and it shows no codes or pending codes. I was told the light may come on at a certain mileage and can be be shut off with a simple reset procedure. Can anyone help with this?

My 97 SL2 was in for dealer service yesterday. They advised me that the clutch is near going. Damn, and after only 191,000 miles! The symptom that they referred was that at a standstill, it is sometimes difficult to shift from neutral into first gear. On the service ticket, they quote $1,097.00 parts and labor included. That seems high. What is...
