I hadn't forgotten about these - I needed to spend a bit of time setting them up and didn't have enough time before today. Introduction for New Readers ============================ 2008 is the 11th season that I have posted these amateur overtaking analyses. My intention was to allow easier comparisons between Grands Prix, seasons, circuits, drivers,...

How does the best lap of the whole weekend (3 practice sessions, 3 qualifying segments and the race) compare to the best lap of the weekend in 2007? Here are two tables - one compares driver with driver; easy enough if the same driver remains in the same team. If not compare the 2007 driver with the guy who replaced him. 'S' is the session when the best...

I posted these comparisons throughout the 2006 & 2007 seasons to illustrate changes in top speeds as measured through the speed traps. Previously I restricted the comparison to speeds recorded during the three segments of qualifying, since the best laps are usually recorded in those sessions. For 2008 I propose to consider the top speeds recorded in the other...

A bit of a ramble on Melb. Melbourne revealed less than I hoped, pretty much everyone stuffed up at some point through the weekend but McLaren, BMW and Williams less than the others, Ferrari stuffed up more than most leaving McLaren open to a one-two which they failed to achieve. BMW should have taken the podium left vacant by Heikki and the third step but...

The ITV and RTL websites now have Friday practice, and if you have the right dish etc; Friday practice 1 + 2, DSF (taped if at an unsociable hour). Saturday practice, RTL (taped). Qualifying live, ITV/RTL. Race live, ITV/RTL. (Zapping between the two in the Aussie GP meant you saw the whole race. Perhaps lots doing that finally signalled to...

1. The mid-race ads; Whilst Johnny Foreigner was always winning it didn't matter much, but LH was the chance to see just how many UK viewers COULD be made to tune in - and the answer was NOT enough - the ads being a BIG factor. 2. The "Boca Juniors" nature of the coverage compared to ALL other TV sports; ANYONE at Sky Sports saying a sport...
