The registration process outlined in the charter for new posters wanting to get started posting to rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderated has been eliminated. Now, instead of having to register an agreement to abide by the charter, new posters simply have to post an article like they would to any other USENET newsgroup. The first post from any given e-mail...

On April 1, 1994, the USENET newsgroup rec.autos.sport was divided into several racing-related groups - one of which was rec.autos.sport.nascar, or "rasn" as it became known to it's participants. On August 13, 1998 a second nascar-related USENET newsgroup (this group) was voted into existence: rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderated, or "rasnm". The rationale...

At first, I wasn't sure if I liked them, or was just a little intrigued since they were different. After seeing the race, I've decided I really like them. Seems to make the track stand out a little more. -- Larry * larrysnatureshots . com

'Crabby' cars may be scaled back by NASCAR: Expect NASCAR to tell Sprint Cup teams that they've gone far enough - and in some cases, too far - with making crooked cars. Sprint Cup Series director John Darby said Saturday that teams will get a memo, likely this week, telling them to "clean up" the way they're turning their wheels to help the cars handle...

Congrats to KK for a stellar performance and Kenny Francis for a gutsy call. Who woulda thunk? Voted in by the fans..... starts in the back of the pack.... and WINS! Life is good! Mike

This is a difficult call since the races are all or nuthin, so I won't try a top five format. It is obvious to me that the race will go to a hungry, fast driver who has no small amount of luck. The two drivers in the Showdown who will advance to the All-Star race are.... Sadler Gordon The winner of the vote to get into the All-Star will be... Kahne The...

Well, this is hard one to pick because qualifying times are pretty much meaningless, and practice was in the day whilst the race is a night... The Win: Greg Biffle - he's been decently fast on track in both quals & practice, and he's about due for some success (and the race is short enough that hopefully the car won't break before it's over). 1 -...

6.1 - Why is rasnm moderated? Even though all Big 8 Usenet newsgroups have a Charter, in an unmoderated newsgroup there is no way to ensure that posts to the newsgroup abide by the Charter. Everyone is on the "honor system". Unfortunately, that oftentimes results in a newsgroup becoming a dumping ground for spam, profanity, off-topic posts, and (in the...

The charter of r.a.s.n.m, which we have all agreed to follow, prohibits "Commercial or Money-Making Posts": 4) Commercial and Money-Making Posts are defined as posts whose primary purpose is to solicit a benefit for the poster. This would include, but is not limited to, advertisements of businesses, direct advertisements of goods ...

Not seeing this posted after 10 hours; reposting lest it not get posted before the race.... Completely empty headed on this one, but it's a Sattidy night race again, and I'll get off work just in time to see it, so I guess I gotta make the call tonight.... 1) Top Toy: Busch 2) Top Dodge: Montoya 3) Top Ford: Kenseth 4) Top Chevy: Johnson 5) Top...
