Okay guys, I had a rude awakening this morning when I logged into the news server and found that Time Warner/Road Runner was dropping its newsgroup access. They gave us absolutley NO WARNING (other than the rumors and news from other service providers). We just logged in and they were gone. Anyway... Motzarella.org out of Germany is a free server...

Marcos Ambrose and Robbie Gordon starting side-by-side in a road course race? That should be interesting!! Winner: The last time Marcos and Robby were at the front in a road course race, Marcos got punted. It won't happen this time. The winner will be the dark horse, Marcos Ambrose. It'll be good to see the Wood Brothers in the Winner's Circle. 1.)...

I am always flummoxed when it comes to picking road races. My calculations and my gut are taking me in both directions. For your edification, here is what my calculations say.... Top Five (in no order) Ambrose Hamlin Said Fellows Gordon (Jeffro) Here is what my gut sez... Top Five (in no order) Johnson Kahne McMurray Gordon, J Gordon,...

I see NASCAR is looking at temps in the cars, to see if there's a real issue they need to address. I think they need to grab one of those ornamental wall thermometers if they want to learn anything interesting. Those things usually consist of a thermometer and a barometer, and it's the latter that NASCAR could use. It's evident that the shape of the...

Been a might slow week around here. I guess everyone got scared off when the modbot took a day's vacation :-( On to the race: The Win: well, it's bound to happen sometime this year, so I'll pick Gordon to win. Jeff Gordon, of course, is who I mean... 1) top Ford: none of these guys (*) are exactly road course aces, so I'll go with Greg Biffle...

If anyone here subscribes - my grandson's mom just got married to Frank Mason, editor of DMM. Conner's picture is on page 68 of the July 2008 issue. So cute! He's 4 1/2. Now, Frank just needs to get him into Go-karts and then up the scale until he can drive NASCAR. LOL. N.

The charter of r.a.s.n.m, which we have all agreed to follow, prohibits "Commercial or Money-Making Posts": 4) Commercial and Money-Making Posts are defined as posts whose primary purpose is to solicit a benefit for the poster. This would include, but is not limited to, advertisements of businesses, direct advertisements of goods ...

6.1 - Why is rasnm moderated? Even though all Big 8 Usenet newsgroups have a Charter, in an unmoderated newsgroup there is no way to ensure that posts to the newsgroup abide by the Charter. Everyone is on the "honor system". Unfortunately, that oftentimes results in a newsgroup becoming a dumping ground for spam, profanity, off-topic posts, and (in the...

The registration process outlined in the charter for new posters wanting to get started posting to rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderated has been eliminated. Now, instead of having to register an agreement to abide by the charter, new posters simply have to post an article like they would to any other USENET newsgroup. The first post from any given e-mail...

On April 1, 1994, the USENET newsgroup rec.autos.sport was divided into several racing-related groups - one of which was rec.autos.sport.nascar, or "rasn" as it became known to it's participants. On August 13, 1998 a second nascar-related USENET newsgroup (this group) was voted into existence: rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderated, or "rasnm". The rationale...
