Some of you old timers help refresh an old man's memory. My daughter asked me if there has ever been a dead tie finish in a NASCAR race. I don't recall a dead heat for first place, but I vaguely remember one. Man, I hate picking the plate races, because you have no hint who might be lucky and who not. The Win: I figure it'll be a Chevy. Let's go with Gordon, he drafts pretty good and he's due for a win. Top Ford: wouldn't surprise me if it was a Yates car. I'll pick Travis Kvapil for top Ford finisher. Top Dodge: well, they were all slow as molasses...

A Saturday night race with no practice, a bunch of unexpected people starting in the top-10, Robby Gordon driving an unsponsored car, and afternoon rain showers to keep the track green. It sure could be an interesting night. Winner: Bobby Labonte wins one for the King. It would be neat to see Ryan Newman sweep Daytona this year, but I don't think it...

The lack of practice has me in a quandary as to who will place well. The early practice numbers usually don't mean much as do the qual numbers. The registration process outlined in the charter for new posters wanting to get started posting to rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderated has been eliminated. Now, instead of having to register an agreement to abide by the charter, new posters simply have to post an article like they would to any other USENET newsgroup.
