Some of you old timers help refresh an old man's memory. My daughter asked me if there has ever been a dead tie finish in a NASCAR race. I don't recall a dead heat for first place, but I vaguely remember one. I believe it was for third place and the names sticking in my mind are Cale Yarborough and Buddy Baker but I can't swear to that. I think it was...

Back to old-style predictions.... Said will come in between 15-20 (inclusive) Labonte (Bobby) will come in between 10-15 (inclusive) Kahne will finish before Montoya One Busch will wreck sufficiently to be a non-contender before the end of the race Gibbs will have precisely two cars on the lead lap at the finish Winner: I don't have great vibes on this....but...

Man, I hate picking the plate races, because you have no hint who might be lucky and who not. The Win: I figure it'll be a Chevy. Let's go with Gordon, he drafts pretty good and he's due for a win. Top Ford: wouldn't surprise me if it was a Yates car. I'll pick Travis Kvapil for top Ford finisher. Top Dodge: well, they were all slow as molasses...

A Saturday night race with no practice, a bunch of unexpected people starting in the top-10, Robby Gordon driving an unsponsored car, and afternoon rain showers to keep the track green. It sure could be an interesting night. Winner: Bobby Labonte wins one for the King. It would be neat to see Ryan Newman sweep Daytona this year, but I don't think it...

The lack of practice has me in a quandary as to who will place well. The early practice numbers usually don't mean much as do the qual numbers. Mother Nature didn't help with the rain outs so here is my best (worst?) guess. Top Five (in no order) Earnhardt Stewart Ky Busch Hamlin Ku Busch ...and the winner is.... Ku Busch. For funsies the...

6.1 - Why is rasnm moderated? Even though all Big 8 Usenet newsgroups have a Charter, in an unmoderated newsgroup there is no way to ensure that posts to the newsgroup abide by the Charter. Everyone is on the "honor system". Unfortunately, that oftentimes results in a newsgroup becoming a dumping ground for spam, profanity, off-topic posts, and (in the...

The charter of r.a.s.n.m, which we have all agreed to follow, prohibits "Commercial or Money-Making Posts": 4) Commercial and Money-Making Posts are defined as posts whose primary purpose is to solicit a benefit for the poster. This would include, but is not limited to, advertisements of businesses, direct advertisements of goods ...

The registration process outlined in the charter for new posters wanting to get started posting to rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderated has been eliminated. Now, instead of having to register an agreement to abide by the charter, new posters simply have to post an article like they would to any other USENET newsgroup. The first post from any given e-mail...

On April 1, 1994, the USENET newsgroup rec.autos.sport was divided into several racing-related groups - one of which was rec.autos.sport.nascar, or "rasn" as it became known to it's participants. On August 13, 1998 a second nascar-related USENET newsgroup (this group) was voted into existence: rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderated, or "rasnm". The rationale...

Hey Yo'all; I'm looking for a New Hampshire Motor Speedway Local Resident for a traffic flow on race week end question... I have surveyed the area around the track with, "Google Earth, MS Streets & Trips 07 and my MiO P550 Pocket PC-GPS (which by the way is a P.O.S), and have found a northern route from the Speedway to Dover NH (which is where we...
