The registration process outlined in the charter for new posters wanting to get started posting to rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderated has been eliminated. Now, instead of having to register an agreement to abide by the charter, new posters simply have to post an article like they would to any other USENET newsgroup. The first post from any given e-mail...

On April 1, 1994, the USENET newsgroup rec.autos.sport was divided into several racing-related groups - one of which was rec.autos.sport.nascar, or "rasn" as it became known to it's participants. On August 13, 1998 a second nascar-related USENET newsgroup (this group) was voted into existence: rec.autos.sport.nascar.moderated, or "rasnm". The rationale...

Jayski is reporting that it appears like all of the manufacturers currently participating in the Cup series are satisfied with the return they are getting on their investment and none will be pulling out. The article says Ford gets a 400% return on its NASCAR investment. No ROI figure is reported for Chevy, Dodge or Toyota, but the gist of the whole...

I am so glad I did n`t go to Indy again this year.I think anyone that did go should ask for the money back or a free ticket to next years race. It`s not the track that was wrong it was Goodyear and Nascar. Tom

I am surprised no one has said anything about NASCAR putting a stop to the strategy of Mark Martin's team (and others??) pitting one lap prior to each known caution. After the first few stops, NASCAR decided to close pit road for about two laps prior to the caution. The advantage that was gained, through strategy, was thrown out the door. To a certain...

I posted a similar post over at the Lake, but is anyone from this group going to be attending the race at the Glen? It would be good to hook up if anyone is planning to make it. I know of some good bass fishing within 5 minutes of the track for those who don't want to fight the traffic. -- -Mike- mmarlowREMOVE@alltel,net

Wow!! Who woulda thunk the Brickyard woulda turned out like that? I listed to the race on Sirius and couldn't believe the tire debacle. I feel sorry for those who paid the big bucks and drove a long distance to see the race. I'm sure that the tire sit at Indy will be fodder for debate on this NG and others for a loooong time to come. The top...

You have got to be kidding me. Anyone with a pulse can see that goodyear is feeling the crunch, and those geniouses decided to get more for the Indy event by bring tires that would be eaten up the the grooved pavement. I can't see how anyone would believe that "They didn't know". Beside the folks at Goodyear are smart and they know how to make money. ...

I've heard that Nascar is like any other sport. I've heard it compared to NFL, NBA, and even MLB. Well, in all of the affore mentioned sport. each team plays another team. Never have you saw all the teams of the NFL get on the field at the same time and bump and grind to a win. No where in major league sports are they required to wear a certain brand...

The more I learn about the rules and what has occured over the years with nascar I'm beginning to feel the same way I did when I found out that wrestling was not what it seemed. I was one Saturday night at the coliseum in charlotte, NC. It was at that time out on East Independence Blvd. Rick Flare and Greg the Hammer Valintine was the tag team champions, They...

Stock cars belong at Indy as much as Rosanne Barr at an SlimFast convention. Nice try bringing in Mike Helton to offer excuses.

Is it just me or did Carl seem to get preferential treatment from NASCAR when he was spreading oil around the track for ten laps or so and never black flagged.? Granted he is a tough and aggressive driver as proven by his drive back to the lead lap after 3 laps down...but seems like Mike Bliss and folks who were spinning in Carl's oil would think ...

Well, Mark Martin said he'd win the race, but I don't beleive him. So I'll make my picks: The Win: Greg Biffle. He's run passably well here in the past, and he's about due to have a good race. Best Chevy: Jimmie Johnson will come home first for Chevrolet. Best Dodge: Seemed like the Evernham cars showed well in quals, so I'll pick Elliott Sadler,...

Hmmm.... The top Dodge will be Kasey Kahne. The top Chevy will be Jimmie Johnson. One Hendrick car will finish below 25th. Elliott Sadler will finish ahead of Kurt Busch. No more than two Toyotas in the top 10. Winner will be...... ...........Jeff Gordon. (yeah, I know my winner prediction's contradicting my one-pointers again. Such is life.) ...

I watched the truck race from IRP last night. Two things really struck me about it, that should be of urgent concern to NASCAR: 1) it started just after 8, eastern, and ended just after 10. In other words, it started early enough that everyone, including kids & old folks, could watch and enjoy the whole thing. 2) there was a lot of real racing -...
