Harbor Freight has a 3000# wheel lift on sale. It has a single post that "lifts" a "fork" that goes on each side of a wheel (one fork tine in front and one in back) Seems like two of these, one on each front wheel for instance, would make a quick lift to raise the whole front, or put the two on one side to raise a side. But would it be any better then...

I bought some UV leak detector dye to try and pin down an engine oil leak. I put double the amount of dye in the oil as instructions call for because I'm just not finding anything that glows. I am using a "glow in the dark" florescent light as my UV light source. I'm not seeing much glow in the dark as far as finding the oil leaks. I have to get the...

I had my 92 Olds Cutlass Supreme S (v6 3.1) in for some work today and the mechanic said both my motor mounts are loose. I thought there was only one for this vehicle. Might he be talking about the transmission mount? Thanks much, Mike

I have this Hyundai with an auto transmission and two wheel drive and I'm getting only about 19-20 in town and 21-22 on the highway. In town travel is typically with one person and light or no loads. Highway is usually 2 people with up to 100# of load. Highway speeds are not above 60mph with cruise control. All driving is quite conservative. Air pressure...

My niece has worn out one tire from running it low on air. Do most people try to buy a used tire to use out the life of the 3 good tires? If I buy one new tire, will it cause abnormal wear to the other 3? I have heard that you should replace radials tires in pairs.

I've been thinking about what my next commute car is going to be. 80 miles/day, it's just me and my briefcase, so thinking of a small vehicle with great gas mileage. Yaris hatchback, Scion xD, or Honda Fit would work for me. Problem is, none of them has a water temp gauge, just an "idiot light." Would you consider buying a car (brand new) that only has...

I have a 78 Firebird with the 400/4 barrel. The engine is stock, as it came from the factory. I've tuned the car up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor; carb was rebuilt a while back). Normally, the car runs quite well. However, if I drive it, let it sit for an hour or two and let the engine cool off, and then start it, it idles poorly. Then, when I go to accelerate,...

I am debating what to do with my 96 S10 2.2. Truck is still running fine. but the oil pressure drops to near zero after it warms up at idle. and when its cold, the piston slap clatters like a diesel. (yes, i changed the oil pressure sensor) From what i researched, the cam bearings are a common culprit for low oil pressure. this truck did have the head...
