To get the best mileage is it better to: 1. Fill tank when it reaches half full mark. (Less fumes) or 2. Fill the tank only half full for less weight? But more fumes. I guess its a weight of extra gasoline vs loss of fumes issue.

What are some of the better preparation materials out there for the exams? The Mitchell box set caught my eye and I was wondering if that was any help to others here. Perhaps there are other good individually packaged ASE prep books?

Been overheating. As some of you may have read, I tried the Headgasket in a bottle trick. It seemed to be working but when I took it out for a little cruise tonight it overheated. Here's what happens: The car will go along for a few miles just fine, small rises and dips in temperature, and then after 20 minutes or so the temp will begin to rise. It then...

Re: headgaset in a bottle, 97 Legacy wagon: Fininshed the process last night and drained the stuff out, and let it sit. It might have been a little COLD last night, but didn't have much choice. Filled it with water and put the 'plates' back on (Hey, it the same plate, and there IS a sort of valid registration...) and drove it for about 15 minutes, and...

Instead of dropping the pan, I disconnect the cooling hose to the radiator and pump out 3-4 quarts of dirty fluid. This has worked fine on all my cars. Now, with a car I just bought, no fluid is pumping out to the radiator. I did drop the pan and change the filter. The fluid was a very dark brown. Shifts in all gears, but car doesn't move under 1,500...

I rent about 2 cars per month and put on about 1000 miles each time. Last week's car was an 08 Altima and without a doubt it is the best car I have ever rented. Very comfortable, 2.5 L, 8.5 sec 0 to 60, 30 mpg combined. I am also looking for a car to buy and this is on top at the moment. A couple of questions though: How reliable is the CVT compared...

Keeps going off spontaneously. I've asked about this before and someone suggested removing a fuse, but there doesn't appear to one on the main fuse block that's in the engine compartment. So far not finding any reference to one in the shop manual. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi, the battery light on my 99 Caravan 3.8 stays on. When I start the car it is off but about 5 secs later it is on and stays on. I have replaced the battery and had the alternator checked. The both are ok. I checked the voltage of that battery with the engine off and it was 12.5V. With the motor running the battery voltage was about 14. Any i...

Here we go again. This one's probably going to be more tricky. Some of you may remember I did the HG in a bottle trick on an '89 GL coupe. Five thousand miles and it still appears to be holding. This one's going to be a little trickier... The victim this time is a '97 Legacy L wagon, 335,000 on the body and ~125,000 on the engine and transmission. The...

Hey Everyone. I've got an issue with am '04 Suzuki Forenza with ~40k. I have changed the oil in this car many times with no issues. I use a Napa gold filter and mobile 1 5w-30. This time, there is a leak somewhere (3-5" puddle) around the oil filter. I then got another filter and I have the exact same issue. This is what I have done so far: Ensured...
