What are the thoughts on the air-fuel ratio values using todays fuels. How much does the (varied) alcohol content of todays fuels modify the 'de facto' standard of 14:1 as the target mixture?

I was thinking about welding a steel plate to a piece of pipe and bolting the plate to one of the van's rear bumper brackets behind the rear bumper.A pipe with a hook welded to one end of the pipe, pipe tall enough to clear the rear doors, pipe would slip into the pipe which would be welded to the steel plate. And using a come along or one of my boat trailer...

It is a 2001 dodge caravan se, 3.3l engine. The initial problem ------------------------- all the indicator lights (PRN3DL) would come on when it is started. Sometimes when I shift gears, it will move to define the R or D or N, etc. Other times all the lights will come on so you do not know where the shift position actually is. The shift itself and...

I'd like to replace a "Rochester" valve used in a Jaguar fuel vapor vent system with something more reliable. This is in the fuel tank vent line that feeds vapor to the charcoal canister. I'm thinking about a solenoid operated valve in parallel with a 2 PSI valve. The solenoid will open when the ignition is on. Otherwise, the 2 PSI valve vents tank...

I replaced the tube that goes just under the water pump on a 2001 caravan. It is metal and then connects via flex rubber to the rad. I think it maybe called a collector tube - not sure. In any event it had to be replaced since it was totally corroded out, but the van is still leaking - like a sieve! It seems to be coming just on top of where that pipe...

MAKING 50,000 DOLLARS IN 20 days This is NO joke=85.. A while back, I was browsing these newsgroups, just like you are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00 plus stamps! So I thought, "Yeah, right, this must be a scam!" But like most of us I was...

1991 Dodge Caravan: Where do the wires run for brake lights? Everything in my 1991 Dodge Caravan mini-van has worked perfectly until yesterday afternoon. I installed a ladder rack on top of the van, and installed a shelfing unit on the floor in the van, running along the left side of the van. After installing these two items successfully, I jumped in the...

1984 Honda Accord, Automatic 1.8L 4cyl. After driving the car long enough for the breaks to warm up, the front breaks begin holding. The break pedal gets very firm with no travel until the car wont go anymore. After the car sits and cools down, the breaks release. I have replaced the master cyl, break booster, front pads and calipers. Bleed the entire...

My wife's everyday ride is a '96 Isuzu Rodeo, it has been giving me fits for the past couple of years starting around this time of year. On hotter days, the A/C will cut off when the temp gage reaches the 3/4 mark. The engine temp never goes beyond this 3/4 mark, but this is more noticeable on trips of a couple of hours or more. Especially where cruising...

Looking at a nice Pro Street car with 13.5 to 1 compression pistons. It apparently has been at some statewide cruises, rod runs, etc, so I know it's been driven. My question is, what kind of fuel must the owner be running for the engine to survive. Heard claim that by retarding the timing somewhat, pump gas with octane booster works(?) Race fuel? Any...

I have a vibration in driveshaft. I have read in hayes repair manual that there are differnet size clips to align the center universal. Has anyone had experience with aligning the center universal on a mazda this way.

After an inspection, the dealer informs me that my front lower control arm bushings are coming loose. They want 5 hours labour and $200 each to replace both control arms as the bushings are not removable. I checked the shop manual, of course the outside engine mounts bolt over the front attachment point of the arms, it mentions removing the engine and...
