how can the black glue strip be removed safely from an aluminum wheel inner frame when replaced during a local trip to have high speed wheel balance done? the shops simply remove the weights but leave the old glue pad/pack to the inner frame and it looks bad scraping is going to damage the aluminum surface? dremel tool? heat?

Hi, I have a 2005 Toyota Celica. I hear a "slapping" noise when I swerve the car a bit. It sounds very much like a piece of hose smacking up against metal. It appears to be coming from the area around the front passenger side fender. I removed the plastic protector under the fender and found the hose that carries the windshield wiper fluid to the...

Ford eyes smaller F-150 cousin Pared-down pickup would boost CAFE DETROIT - Ford Motor Co. is developing a lightweight, more fuel-efficient pickup truck to slot in below its flagship F-150. The new pickup truck, code-named P525, is being engineered on the F-150's platform. But it will be lighter and slightly smaller, supplier and industry sources...

Got a buddy of mine's 66 Mustang over here to troubleshoot no brakes, among other problems. Manual drums. Been sitting for several years. Master cylinder empty, front drivers brakes all dirty and gunked up, looking oily, so I suspect wheel cylinder slight leak. No other obvious leak points, though the metal brake line going to the back looks so heavily...

a post I made just recently reminded me, I used to have a timing light, I think it was made by a company called Optilux, it didn't look like a regular timing light but like a big flashlight. It had a built in dwell meter and tach (digital) among other things - might have had more features but those were the only ones I ever used. I bought it used from...

Hi again, gang. I hope everyone has been great. Well, it's time for another oil change, so I thought I'd check in again with my Toyota friends. Only this time I have a surprise! I did my first-ever oil change the other day! It was a real pleasure to do, and I have to thank all the wonderful participants in this newsgroup for all the helpful advice...

We have a 1990 Cutlass Ciera that blew out the O2 sensor and went into limp home mode. The sensor physically blew out from rust. So I put a new Bosch one in and at about 500 km later, it starts acting exactly the same, with a miss all the way up the throttle and basically no top gear or bad shakes in top gear, just like last time. It also dropped...

I've decided to take one more stab at fixing my A/C in my '93 Mazda 626... My problem right now is that, even after replacing the blown high pressure line, that the system won't hold a vacuum. What I want to do is apply a bit of pressure to the system and use a soap solution to try and identify where the leak is occurring. Sounds straight forward,...

Hello, I have a 98 Dodge RAM van. The passenger side front door is stuck locked. The power lock actuator is making some noise, while trying to unlock the door (so it's not that a fuse, or the actuator itself is deat). It doesn't work - I tried many times to open the door manually, to pull at the unlock mechanism while trying the power lock at the same...

I would appreciate any of you knowledgeable about bumper fixing to give me an estimate as to what you think it might cost to fix the front (with more severe scraping) and back (flexed damage) bumpers. That way I know what to expect from a body shop, and whether I have to wince. For reference, I am in the Sacramento CA area, but what they do in your...

My '93 Mazda 626 blew a high pressure A/C line last year. Considering the cost of having a shop do the work, I decided to repair this myself. Last autumn I bought a few cans of R134a, a vacuum pump with gauges, A/C line, dryer, o-rings, and R134a conversion fittings. I've gone to the trouble of draining the oil out of the compressor, flushing out the...

Damn GM.... I got bit by this LIM / Dexcool fiasco. w w w .DexCoolSettlement . com My 1998 Mailibu V6 3.1 leaked out all its rad fluid & the engine went supernova when the LIM gasket failed. Luckily I think I caught it in time to save the engine. I pulled everything apart and found that the bolts holding the LIM to the block were just finger tight & engine...
