Turns out I have bad shocks, and my tires are cupped pretty bad on the inside. "Pretty bad" means they are very noisy and at higher speeds the vehicle becomes a little unstable (probably exacerbated by the bad shocks). So if I were to replace all 4 shocks, check the alignment, and continue to rotate the tires regularly, will they get any better? Or...

Somewhat related to an ongoing thread, but different- Our local newspaper had an article today about folks who do not have flex fuel vehicles, but do burn high ratios of ethanol. They fill from two pumps, one E85, one gasoline, and so tailor their own mixtures. Since ethanol requires a much richer mixture than gasoline, doesn't this substantially lean...

I'm looking at the "classic wood" steering wheel on this page: http :// www .lmctruck, com /ICATALOG/CC/full.aspx?Page3 for a gift for someone with a truck that currently has a Grant steering wheel on it. Question is, is this also a Grant wheel or do I need to purchase the adapter as well? I believe that it is but would like confirmation. thanks, Nate --...

Just wondering how everyone deals with backprobing connectors on the newer weather sealed connectors. In the past we could slip t-pins or sewing needles down between the seal and the wire and contact the terminal. More modern designs on these connectors make that all but impossible, or as with ECMs the angles of the wires coming in make it near impossible...

Back in the 1970's when Jimmy Carter was president we had a similar gas situation to what we have now. The industry came out with "gasohol" which was a blend of alcohol made from corn, and gasoline. It destroyed fuel pumps on many an automobile including mine. Is E-10 gas the same thing as gasohol? I began using E-10 a few months ago in my 1994 Chevy...

Does anyone know the history of the requirement that some vehicles in California obtain their smog certificates from a test-only smog center? The California DMV website is silent on the matter, but from what I've read the reasoning behind the policy is that the "primary obligation [of a test-only center] is to conduct a fair and unbiased smog test." ...

I have a '94 Ford Ranger pickup. It has only 62000 miles on as I ride my bike a lot. It has been a good runner until recently when one day I started it and the engine ran as rough as if one cylinder was missing. Out on the street it smoothies out a little but lacks power. Since it’s drivable I’m trying to troubleshoot it myself. It has the 2.3 L 4 cyl....
