So here's the deal. The car is a Honda Civic with a group 51 battery (Kirkland Signature from Costco if that helps). Every once in a while the battery is heavily drained because a light (map light or headlamp) was left on. I do find it annoying that there is no headlight-on warning chime or auto-off. Sometimes it starts and sometimes it needs a jump;...

During a recent flash flood, lots of cars here were stalled on the streets. A friend of mine just finished replacing a stabilizer pin, timing belt, other belt, and who knows what else. The car won't start, and the shop and insurance people say to throw it away. He says it won't crank properly, but I haven't heard it myself. My only personal experience...

I was looking at some new lawn mowers yesterday at Wal Mart and Lowe's.Why is it Briggs & Stratton doesn't list the horsepower rating on lawn mower engines anymore? They list the foot pounds of torque instead of the horsepower. When I look at a lawn mower, I want to know how much horsepower it has.My old lawn mower B & S engine says 3.75 horsepower. cuhu...

Does anyone know how much power an average air conditioning compressor absorbs when operating?

The next thing in pimping your ride. But seriously: My city is using a system of automated parking enforcement wherein a vehicle equipped with cameras and some AI drives down the road, snapping photos of license plates _and _wheels_. Upon returning after the time limit expires, the system is smart enough to recall the plates and the accompanying wheel...

Hello everyone. I am having a problem with the drivers side power window on a 2003 Chevy Tracker 2-door conv. When raising the window, it gets stuck about half way up, and the glass itself tilts forward. If I grab it and pull it back toward the back window frame it then continues on just fine. There is no problem lowering the window, only raising...

I've created a decal I'd like made for my wifes van. It's to go on the rear tinted windows. About 20" x 15", but an oval shape. It's a black (smidgen of red) stylized logo with a surrounding black oval border. I'd like the decal cut 1/2 inch outside of the black oval border. Inside, and 1/2 inch beyond needs to be a certain white value. Either through...

Need some help diagnosing my '88 Dakota, which hasn't been starting. I thought there were two problems, but now I'm not so sure. I checked and it does have spark. I do have to go get new contacts for the starter as they are worn and it doesn't connect and crank reliably right now. I had suspected the fuel pump, since it does have spark, but after my diagnosis...

Hi all, got a bit of a puzzlement. Ever since I've had it, my '08 Impala has had a pronounced steering shimmy under braking - the harder you brake, the more the wheel shakes back and forth. I finally took it in for its first service in my care today, and asked them to balance and rotate the tires and also to turn the front rotors. I ASSumed that...
