Went to see Iron Man today (lots of fun!) and had lunch at a local burger place, I guess it is a chain called Five Guys. Their fries are made from fresh potatoes and fried in peanut oil. Took me back to Ocean City, Maryland where you could get greasy bags of such fries years ago. That, and a fried kosher hot dog with tons of fried onions, made for...

I bought two russet potatoes yesterday. Cost $1.17! I usually use them to make oven fries ('french fries' baked in oven). I'll have to do some calculating. It may well be cheaper to buy frozen house brand fries instead. Ken -- "When you choose the lesser of two evils, always remember that it is still an evil." - Max Lerner

There have been some discussions about the size of Breyer's ice cram when it dropped to 1.75 quarts. The new size is 1.5 quarts. The package height is the same L X W X D, but the base has a taper to it. In a couple of years it will be available only by the tiny medicine vials.

That's was my dinner at the Festival of Nations, bought at the Colombian café. Has anyone made arepas? What's the customary white cheese in the middle? How about corn empanadas? Meat-filled but yellow crust; deep fried. Yowzah, was that some good! I'm thinking I'll have the arepa again tomorrow. OK, maybe I'll have the whole thing again tomorrow. --...

How many people here actually celebrate Cinco de Mayo? I personally know of nobody who even knows or cares what it is but with all the hoopla I've been seeing you'd think it was some big holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas. I had never even heard of it until a couple years ago.
