Once upon a time, someone posted a delicious balsamic reduction over a poached Granny Smith recipe to RFC. Darned if I can get Gooja to urp the post to that recipe, though. Does anyone have that tried-and-true recipe (and that they're willing to share again?) It might even have been over Bartlet or Bosq pears... Many thanks.

I was given three pounds of extra fancy California-grown medjool dates by a nice church lady with whom I'm acquainted. Aside from eating them, what is a good thing to do with them? Would they ever be used in an entree? Refrigerate the opened bag? I assume yes. -- -Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ Check my new ride: * w w w .jamlady.eboard.co...

Washington asparagus is on sale for $1.88/lb at Cub this week. I picked up a bunch on my way home from church. I happen to like the fat spears; they are, in my opinion, no less delectable than the wimpy pencil-thin spears. I snapped them and peeled the tough end pieces with my handydandy asparagus peeler which was a gift from Anne Bourget (used to...

My husband and kids have a surprise for me this evening, and we had the morning free, so we drove up to my folks' place in Vista, and it turned into quite a party! Between us, my brothers and their families, plus my youngest brother's childhood friend with his fiancée in tow, there were 16 of us. Jim, my youngest brother, got his daughters and my daughter...

1 - Control your impulse to comment on the use of all the canned stuff. Assume fresh asparagus but canned artichoke hearts. Assume a from scratch cream soup base with onions and celery included, pureed. What do you think of the 'choke-asparagus combination? With this as a jumping off place, what might you do to enhance it. (No, throwing it in the...

Made the Maternal Unit a Mother's Day Sunday lunch of: roast chicken, assorted vegetables and potatoes, veg puree. Dessert (which we had at tea time) was a standard pound cake, baked with a filling of thin orange slices. Gave her a slice (looks nice with the line of orange through the middle) garnished with cutup strawberries and whipped cream. Had my...

From the St. Louis Post Dispatch. I thought you might be mildly interested in this little story about the budding sausage maker here in St. Louis: Excerpt: "Mario and Nancy were also very old-school," he adds. "We did everything from scratch. They wouldn't even let us make pesto in a food processor — we had to use a mortar and pestle. Something else...

... they're awfully deep. And potatoes? They're round. They roll. Sometimes, one will get away from you. Worst case scenario is you'll smell them before you find them. Or maybe the worst is when they start reaching out for you! Help me!!! * i28.tinypic . com /2hwpmk6.jpg nancy

Could anyone suggest a good dish that includes these two ingredients, a soup or stew possibly? Many thanks!

Previously, I have found it in the local stores under their own brand name (Waldbaum's and Stop N Shop). Both stores have discontinued the product. Any idea where I can get it? Google search not much help. Thank you in advance.
