I have just returned home from a delightful trip to Amish country in Lancaster PA. While there I filled up on wonderful Amish/Pennsylvania Dutch food. One of the best meals was a simple hot turkey sandwich, with gravy. The gravy seemed fairly traditional or usual for that kind of meal, but was more "golden" yellow than I've seen in the past. What do...

Another great recipe snagged from http :// www .asdearassalt.blogspot,com / This stuff is addictive. After I made this dish I mixed up a batch of the spices, now it's ready to use in a moment. I looked and looked for the asafoetida powder and couldn't find it. After googling it I was so happy I didn't find it. It's also called devil's dung, just to give...

Thanks to everyone in this group for advice over the ages regarding cookbooks. I'll bet that you are all scratching your heads trying to remember my questions about it, now. In any event.. I have some kitchen experience (and i can feed myself successfully), but I have a lot to learn, starting with the fundamentals. The Internet is a great resource...

I don't keep spices on hand because I do very little cooking. I would like to try lasagna. I have never seen a spice pack in the grocery store for lasagna like I have seen for chili and pot roast. Does one exist?

I am trying to come up for another easy to fix dish from the crock pot and I have seen a couple on the Internet for meatloaf. Anyone have a good one that works?

Is there such a thing as a yeast pasta, noodles, or ravioli, which undergoes a rising? I've never heard of such a thing. The closest thing I can think of is breadsticks, but I have difficulty imagining eating a bowl of boiled breadsticks in tomato sauce or pesto. It would make for a thicker ravioli, but lighter. Not dense, like it would be if you...
