Here in the USA, due to occupational health and safety concerns, almost all the cafe establishments operate with the restriction of NO BOILING WATER!. As a consequence they are unable to brew a decent pot of black tea!. Now most of these places have espresso machines with milk steaming attachments. So here's my question. What is the temperature of the fluid...

On a recent Friday afternoon I was called away from my office on an emergency, leaving behind my thermos mostly full of coffee. When I arrived back at my office on Monday and emptied out the thermos bottle, I discovered that the bottom was covered in little black squiggly marks. I tried washing it out using a narrow brush, but the marks remain. Is my...

Can anyone tell me whether the ESTRO Model 480 is adjustable to a grind coarse enough for French Press brewing? And if so, how do I adjust it. I have just been given one, without documentation; it produces espresso-grind, and I have been unable to adjust the Grind. SOS ! ! ! TIA

As a tea freak, I learned that water quality was important, and that fresh water freshly heated was the only way to go. As a nascent coffee freak, I am surprised that this NG reveals no concern about water quality. Is it of negligible importance?

Has any of you used the Breville conical burr grinder. This Australian brand is not a common household brand name, but is at our local Williams Sonoma store for $100. Epinions has nothing about it. Coffee grinders and I just don't get along. I have destroyed two Cuisinart burr grinders. Recently, a Capresso conical burr grinder self destructed, and my...

Does anyone have experience with the Breville conical burr grinder? I saw one at William's Sonoma and at least construction wise it looked pretty good. TIA, Kent

Hi, Been having a look and can't seem to find one but I was wondering if theres such a thing as a coffee perculator than I can fill and set and have it ready and made me a nice pot of coffee by the time I wake up in the morning. I'm in the UK so something avaliable to buy in the UK would be best. Regards, Chris

Some live aboard sailors prefer to carry green coffee beans on their sailboat and roast them as need it. I wonder how green beans are best roasted on board a moving sailboat.

Which would you choose? The Selecta is available from < * w w w .houseoffrasershop.co.uk/bin/venda?ex=co disp-view&invt=63055 8136&bsref=hof#> for £135, the Cubika is £6 less. Does anyone happen to know if the Selecta has enough height to work with mugs or large cups? In the picture it looks like there isn't a lot of room there. Thanks, Da...

Having just discovered La Minita, I wonder why this NG has so few posts re highest end coffee. Is this site only for the less discriminating?

I wonder if there is any evidence that drip coffee filters out some heavy metals or other impurities from water.
