I've finally found a tea prep that works for me. Got a 4-cup cone filter coffee maker. I use it solely for making tea. Two tsp of loose tea in the cone, a fill of ( filtered ) water... and voila !! A perfect pot of tea every time. And it keeps it "at temp" too. Now I can store the teapots, water kettles, teaballs, and other paraphenalia.. BTW;...

I dont have too many Taiwan teas officially labeled Dong Ding WuLong (large cursive chinese letters). Most of what I have is labeled Taiwan High Mtn (small letters) with the name of a mountain or area. http :// i49.tinypic,com /24oar.jpg This came sealed in silver nitrogen pack for freshness. The bottom of the tin said packed 12/11/09. It is from a company...

After moving into "loose tea", I bought a pretty teapot. Problem is, it takes me over an hour to drink a pot of tea. By then, the tea is lukewarm or cool. I've even tried a "cosy", but it really doesn't help too much. A friend has suggested using a thermos after the tea's been brewed. But that sort of defeats the idea of "the pretty teapot". ???

Does RFDT still have a following? This post may read like a promo or shill. That is not my intention; rather, I hope to make a good and non-self-promoting resource more rapidly available to fellow tea-drinkers - at the risk of driving up prices and depleting stocks of what I hope to acquire! Many of us remember David Lee Hoffman from his days running...

I just read a recent post on a blog I follow that's written by a computer hardware designer - perhaps most famous for the Chumby - who spends a lot of his time close to his sources, which is to say, in China. The subject is his experience with a shipment of fake flash memory, and his experience has a lot of parallels with, say, buying fake Pu'er cakes: ...

Here is a picture of Ceylon needle grade tea I mentioned as a PS in another post: http :// i47.tinypic,com /2i8hoqx.jpg I dont know the particular area it came from. It has a milder Ceylon taste than most. If you like the Ceylon taste there are cheaper ones than this. You pay for the grade and not the taste. Its hard to see but it is half white/black on...

Continuation of the Google thread: http :// tinyurl, com /ykokmyy Huan Jin Gui http :// i50.tinypic,com /xm0chy.jpg I describe the taste as heavy similar to Japanese thick. The aroma is a constant with every infusion. The infusions are limited to 4 or 5. As the aroma and taste fades there is still a mineral aftertaste. The leaves are tough and thick. ...

I am greatly enjoying my Teaspring China teas, but I also favor Assams, so I am looking for recommendations for a source of fresh Assams that is kind of like "the Teaspring of India teas" using Teaspring as a benchmark for the kind of quality I am looking for. I am currently enjoying some pretty inexpensive Ahmad Assam that I get from Middle Eastern markets...

I don't want to open up a can of worms (or do I?) but I was curious how prople felt in general about flavoured tea? By that I mean things like "pomegranate white tea" and things like that. While often lower quality tea (and not even much of that) I still find that I enjoy some flavoured teas after dinner, while I generally drink purebloods during the...

This is a continuation of my posts on 'grotty' greens. I just renoticed it because of my recent post on GuangDong black tea. I also mentioned it in passing on another post. This one is GuangDong green almost on the opposite side of the black spectrum. GuangDong is known for its broadleaf teas like Dan Cong which comes from a tree. You can see that in...

Commercial pouchong is plentiful in Chinatown. See my previous post: http :// tinyurl, com /yjrnef6 Most of it is broken leaf. That doesnt affect the taste. But why pay more when you can get whole leaf if you look around. This is a picture of some pouchong from my local tea shoppe unloaded for cheap. http :// i45.tinypic,com /10n857p.jpg This leaf is...

At least the Japanese chadao requires Japanese matcha. I think at a minimum a WuYi chadao should require a WuYi tea. I understand gongfu is anybodys idea of making tea with little pots and cups. If not then English tea is the ultimate gongfu. I dont mind arbitrary rules so long as it is presented upfront so people cant hide behind technique as a substitute...
