In the past I've had hit and miss experiences with TenRen, one white tea in a clear bag was average, another tea I don't remember also wasn't too exciting, but recently I got their dark oolong 2nd grade and ti kuan yin 3rd grade and for the price they're excellent in my estimation. Which other teas are good there, and which ones are not so good? How much...

i have been reading a book on tea, and i thought i understood pu-erh. i thought for ripe they fermented and cooked the tea, then made cakes over a couple days. this ripe tea desciption below shows it was at least 10 months from picking to being pressed into cakes. i thought the fermentation was a couple days only. thx for helping a newbie, al 2007...

The 2008 first flush DJs have started to be offered for sale (see for example * w w w .uptontea . com /shopcart/item.asp?itemID=TD93). The price is rather high -- anytime a blurb is offered which contains the words "fierce bidding" you know they are explaining a price that they feel to be unusual. I like a tippy Darjeeling, but a recent vein of bad...

What is yours? I should finish up my sencha, and the next time be sure to buy it fresh and grassy, not stale and flowery. Also to go and not get again is the sample of Darjeeling SFTGFOP1 free from Upton that tastes like dust or maybe pollen, a nice change from the teas I chose myself, but confirming me that that my taste buds have aged away from Darjeelings....

Is there such a thing as pu-er that is too old? I don't have experience drinking much pu-er, mostly what I've had is green and/or cooked pu. What I've tried to imagine is something that has a flavor somewhere in between those two extremes--if you take all of the "green" flavor away, will the tea be diminished in some way? I've looked at pictures of some...

italian cooking, Many people who love a given subject want to know more about it. What its origin is, how it came about, who discovered it, etc. Human curiosity is a remarkable thing and without it everything we know today would not have been possible. Without asking questions and wanting to know more, nothing would have ever been invented, nothing would...

Hello! I've been an avid lurker here for a long time but I now have a burning need to post because I'd like to draw on the collective knowledge of the group. I'm working to expand an article on Keemun (and using it for an upcoming tea tasting I'm hosting), and I'm finding some of the same stuff recycled, or sketchy information, or interesting information with...

I recently decided to explore some of China's classical green teas and ordered Supreme Tai Ping Hou Kui and Liu An Gua Pian from Dragon Tea House. I did not get any brewing recommendations and my initial attempts to brew the teas in both a glass and a small porcelain pot yielded a rather bland tea in both cases. It was not weak, just not very distinct or...

Hello. Has anyone ordered from J-Tea? * w w w .jteainternational . com / Their teas look/sound good but some of them are rather expensive and I haven't heard of anyone in this forum ordering from them. (This is not an ad! I've read the other posts on that topic.) Does anyone know anything about the competitions in Taiwan and the various tiers? Are these...

Hi everyone. I'm getting into a major Anxi / tieguanyin phase, and I've been having some issues with weird grassy tastes. It might be that I've bought crappy tea, but I want to make sure. So, I was wondering: what temperature water does everyone use for greenish tieguanyin? Thanks in advance. Alex

I just have a few teaspoons of six month old sensha, although I think it was also old when I got it. It's lost its grassy taste, but instead has a yellow flower taste- some forthysia blossom, some dandelion. It's quite pleasant, but I don't want to summer it. Are there othr teas which should be used up NOW? Toci

I stopped by a neighbor who has a saw mill yesterday to inquire about large (>14" wide") oak or heart-pine boards for a little furniture project. That has nothing to do with anything, really, but I read somewhere that lots of specific detail improves the written word. Naturally, I steered the conversation toward tea. He said that he'd recently bought...
