We are assisting someone to build an information only website for boiling & bratt pans and wondered if anyone has any good info to share. In particular we are interested in types of appliances people have used, good & bad points and any good recipes. Thanks for any ideas. Stu Wright www.cateringappliancesltd.co.uk

In January 2005 I posted in this group looking for a table top grill. That post read as follows: " I am looking for a unique cooking "thing" that I saw at a party. It is cast iron and is fueled by a bag of charcoal (you shove the entire bag into the middle and light it - bag and all). It comes in three pieces (I think) - there is a bottom that holds...

Sorry if this has come up before. Has anyone used silicone whisks and found they don't do a very good job? I was going to buy a set but one reviewer said they drag on the bottom of the saucepan and don't whisk the stuff in the corners. Dora limey113@yahoo.com

Hi all I'm new to the world of Kenwod Chef. I just started using one but it appears that when I make a sponge, the sugar and butter don't mix well for a 4 oz cake - I end up with a grainy texture. After hearing all the rave reviews about Chef I was quite dissappointed. Perhaps it's my error but it appears that the attachment doesn't seem to reach the bowl...

I recently bought a house that has a Jenn Air gas cooktop with downdraft ventilation. I hate the way the ventilator sucks the flames and heat away from the pans, while still managing to allow alot of the smoke to set off my fire alarms. Especially with a wok, where the downdraft is near useless. I don't really want to reroute the ventilation piping. ...

Does anybody make a gas-fired toaster oven? By "toaster oven" I mean a physically small, fast response oven that provides simultaneous top and bottom browning of dry foods and the ability to provide uniform heating and top browningf I've become fond of cooking outside on the porch, for which propane-fired stoves and grills excell. Gas grills don't make...

I was just at Costco this week (in Arizona), and I started watching a demonstration of the Vita Mix machine. (http://www.vitamix.com/) I couldn't pull myself away from the demonstration, and I was literally amazed at how the machine made a fruit smoothie (just like Jamba Juice), a frozen ice cream mix of fruit, and some hot tortilla soup all in less than...

We went to the Dacor oven wholesaler and heated both an exposed element oven and a sealed element oven. I couldn't get the sealed element oven to heat past 525F, and then it took 40 minutes to get to that temp. The exposed element Dacor heated to 555 within 15 minutes, about the same as our old GE. Does anyone have any exp. with hidden elements in Dacor,...

Have any of you measured the highest temperature your oven will go, measured with an oven thermometer? I don't rely on the gauge. What's the highest temp. your gas oven will heat to? We're about to get a wall oven and will probably end up with a Dacor electric, if it passes the 550F temp. test. I am a pizza fanatic. Our old GE will go to 550F measured with...

Does anyone here have experience with a residential stainless steel backsplash for the kitchen? What thickness should the steel be (when custom cut from a sheet). How did you finish the end(s)?

Does anyone have a favorite thermometer or temperature gauge, for your freezer. How low will it measure? Thanks, Kent
