I recently suffered a clumsy accident, knocking over a joint in my oven, which in turn clogged the gas jets from which the flame emits. As a consequence, I cannot get the flames to burn properly now, with just a few little tiny flames coming on. Obviously fat has clogged these, and I am at a loss as to how best to clean the area to restore full function. Has...

Does anybodty here have any experience with this range hood? It's a 400 CFM under cabinet unit, which features "self-clean filterless operation". I have no idea what that means, how it works and really if it works. Thanks for any and all comments.

I looked at the Furi knife sharpener video and it looks very interesting. However, I see now that Rachel Ray has her fingers in the pie and has added her favorite color "orange" to one of the three prongs of the sharpener. * w w w .amazon . com /Furi-Rachael-TechEdge-Sharpening-System/dp/B00066MAQA She has added her special touch to the handles of the...

A few months ago on one of Ming's shows, he was making "Thai spiced Mussel Soup with Leeks and Carrot Spaghetti" * w w w .mingspantry . com /thaspicmusso.html He made the carrots into spaghetti strands with a machine for cooking in the mussel broth. He said that he called the machine "a Kabuki machine," but it is also a BEN-RINI (my understanding and...

Hi all, I am considering to buy a PLGFMZ96EC Frigidaire gas range. Has anybody had any experience with this (or similar) model? Also, while exploring the subject of convection, I figured one should search for "true" convection (with the heated element). I was not able to figure out if this specific (or any other Frigidaire) model has this heated element,...

Just bought a new gaz range and the grates are so high, I think there's too much heat lost around the pots... even if I use a smaller burner than the pan... Can somebody give me the typical distance from the top of the flame to the top of the grate (where the pan sits...) I think I have too much room in there. I guess the distance from the burner...

After months trying to get any salesman to give me information on an available Sears Elite stove, I finally managed to get enough information to order one by phone from Customer Service on Friday and it was delivered today, Tuesday. I feel I have discussed this item ad infinitum, and I want to thank everyone who has given me advice on this purchase. The...

Has anyone found a good coffee-maker where the pot doesn't spill when you pour? I have had back luck with Krups, Braun, and Cuisinart...no matter whether you pour slow, fast, or odd angles I get drips....any thoughts?

I was hoping that someone could help me figure out the difference between an Atlas Marcato 150 Pasta Machine and an Atlas Pasta Machine 180. Or, if anyone has a better recommendation for a stand-alone manual pasta machine, that too would be welcome! Thanks in advance, Julie

I'm going to make Beef Braised in Barolo that I saw on America's Test Kitchen. My dutch oven is non-stick so I'm thinking of using my stockpot (has a much heavier base and is not non-stick; I'ts all about the fond.) The only difference I can imagine is that the stock pot is much taller. Think that will make any difference? Thanks in advance.

Hi: My daughter has only one class left before starting her internship with Keiser University's Capital Culinary Institute. She was required to purchase a chef's kit that included Chef Cutlery by Mercer. For Christmas she requested a set of better knives. What cutlery brands and models should I look at that would be superior to the Chef Cutlery by...

It's all about being creative and saving money. I got a 60" double oven Garland with griddle and broiler in great condition for $500. It was in a community center. Hardly used. Now I need to vent it for less than I paid for it and it's gotta' look good. (my wife did not like the idea of crafting a range hood from half an oil tank. Any ideas? I'm...

I'm trying to find a way to store cheese that comes in half wheel (not in the refrigerator) . Also , suggestion on slicing soft cheese and hard cheese. Is a Two handed (knife) good for hard cheese and a cheese slicer for soft that comes in half wheel size ? or is knife for soft cheese better. Just got a catalog for Scottish cheese.
