I just bought a Kitchenaid stand mixer on ebay. It is new, not refurbished or anything, but I am wondering if the warranty is good, even though it wasn't sold to me through an authorized retailer. I bet that much of the goods on ebay are in this category, being sold to the buyer via the grey market. Has anyone had any experience with this? Todd

I just picked up a Chefmate enameled cast iron dutch oven at my local Target. (yay!) So, for one thing, if you're still searching for one after reading the Cook's Illustrated reviews, they're still out there! I got mine in Duluth, GA, but it was the last one (sorry). Bright red, no chips. Has anyone tried washing theirs in the dishwasher? I don't know...

I just received a flyer from Bed, Bath and Beyond. Apparently, Calphalon has just come out with some enameled cast iron, being sold (exclusively, they say) by B,B&B. The five-quart Dutch oven is $129.95; the eight-quart is $179.99. Worth taking a look, I think. Dora -- limey113@yahoo . com

My last post about my cast iron frying pans was well received and thanks for the replies. I finally broke down and bought some oven cleaner and applied it to the lesser of my pans so if something went wrong I would not lose one of my good pans...well it WORKED! The cleaner got all the gunk off the pans and although I do have to season them again I got...

Hi, I am trying induction by getting one of those countertop units. I need to get some cookware. I prefer no rivets in the pan. I have been looking at * w w w .inductionsystems . com /Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=I&Category_Code=CW Chatal and Castamel are looking like winners because they are plain steel which is highly magnetic....

i've perfected an invention that allows making of al dente pasta, with VERY reduced energy consumption in the cooking. Patent is pending. Now as we know, there is only one business which breaks more hearts (and more wallets) than the restaurant business - that is the inventing business. So I must plan very, very, very carefully in putting my invention...

This is my first post to this group and I am really hoping someone can help me. I have 7 cast iron frying pans of varying sizes. I never, ever use dish soap on my pans nor do I put them in the dish washer, but I have also never seasoned them properly so at times they would stick. I decided to season them a couple days ago. I made sure they were clean...

Some maker literature extolls the virtues of forged high carbon non- stainless steel utensils (including knives) over stainless steel utensils/knives even if the company makes utensils out of both kinds of steel. One of the points the different companies seem to have in common is that they claim forged high-carbon non-stainless steel knives sharpen up faster...

I have been taking pans out of the oven and setting them on a stainless steel table just within a 90-degree turn away. Usually they sit there while cooling. Today I had a different circumstance. Making the NY bread - one takes out a 500-degree pot which has been heating for 30-40 minutes, then flips some bread from one hand to another, then sort of throws...

Its for a tenant so it has to be reliable, no need for top of the line but no cheap junk either. Figure to spend anywhere from $400 to $600, is that reasonable for a good reliable unit? Any recommendations?

I saw your posting inquiring about the mandolin at Costco for around $50 -- I was looking at one at Costco online, and price of $54.95 (including shipping). Yesterday while shopping at a different Costco than I normally go to I saw the same brand mandolin for $39.95. There was no Model Number on the outside of the box. When I opened the box, I saw...

I have previously (99% of the time) been posting by directly typing into the "blocked space" that Goggle provides for their postings. This particular time since my message had to be 'thought out,' I typed the posting into a Word document and then cut and pasted it into the blocked space. So I am typing it in directly for you to see if is still 'messed...

Having received my Emeril 12=E2=80=9D skillet, I realize that a 12=E2=80=9D= skillet is the measurement across the top, and this skillet measures 8-1/2=E2=80=9D at the base. On my range( which has a set of triple elements which are 6, 9 and 12=E2=80=9D) Emerils=E2=80=99 12=E2=80=9D pan, which has a base measurement= of 8-1/2=E2=80=9D fits the 9=E2=80=9D...
