I have a spare amp and was wondering if I used the high line in from the speakers in my car and send them more power with the amp, would it give me a better sound on the stock head unit? The amp is a pioneer, so quality is mediocre. I know the speaker wont be able to handle the more power very well but the 2 front ones are 5 14" clarions, which require more...

I have a Dual XDMR 7700. Pressing the open button results in the face trying to slide down but stops and immediately goes up again. Radio and all that work, just face won't fuction correctly. No bad noises, just up and down as quick as u can say it with almost no movement. Maybe 1/16in. Enough to see 2nd display. Any ideas?

Thanks for most of the conversation. I no longer need the info. I obtained it through the means I had intended: a personal email and I am good to go now. At least some on this forum can read for proper comprehension.

Fuses are there to prevent damage to wiring. If you don't have a fuse then you need a fuse on your power wire to the sub no further than 8 inches from the battery. Also don't use a higher fuse than intended for the gauge of wire. And to fix your problem, probably the easiest way would be just to replace your power and ground with thicker gauge wire try...

That's just way too much power draw for your car's electrical system, especially if you have the stereo on when you try to start it (i.e, turn the stereo off). The wires heat up from trying to draw too much current and the insulation melts. One way way you're going to help solve that problem is to install a larger alternator and to make sure all your wiring...

Not being sure where you have sourced the power from, direct to the battery is normally best with electronics, the alternator to battery positive cable could be increased in size. However, continuous high power operation will be beyond what Chevy had in mind when the ratings of the electrical system were determined. Also, something overlooked many times...

You probably need dual batteries, if you don't already have them. You're putting too much current through not enough wire to prevent excess heat build-up. Your amp should have its own power coming off a battery, through a fuse or...
