On a non-music discussion board someone asserted that a person who is deaf in one ear cannot expereince stereo or 5.1 or 7.1. In effect they can only here in mono with no differentation of spatial information. This doesn't seem right to me. What's the facts about impaired hearing and stereo and mutli-channel reproduction.

I bought a new Audio Technica turntable. When I lower the needle to start playing, and in between cuts, I can hear a rattling noise, almost like the cartridge is loose. The music sounds great, probably because it's louder than the rattle. AT-PL120, ATP-2 cartridge, LP, felt mat, wood shelf, wood floor. Thanks in advance.

I just bought a Nakamichi TA-4A receiver and I need a Operator's Manual. Does anyone know where I can get one for free downloading? Thanks, Terry

I'm thinking over "FWD872/98" model on this page < http :// www .consumer.philips,com /consumer/en/in/consumer/cc/ productid FWD872 98 IN CONSUMER/DVD-Mini-Hi-Fi-System+FWD872-98> It says it has USB connection option. The info on the site says that we can plug USB memory stick in the system. But, one of the sales person told me that it's USB streaming--meaning...

To: rec.audio.high-end I just come across this "brand" while browsing eBay to see what was going for auction in the high-end speaker category. I looked further into this brand (by going to their website) to see if and how legititmate they are because their "S500" model looks suspiciously similar to the B&W 801D. Their website is well done as far...

I haven't been following stereo magazines in quite awhile and most of the information I need is spread out over about a 7 year span of issues...but, happily, I'm sure some of you are quite well-informed. ;-) I am looking to get a turntable in the $300-350 price range and am aware of three worth consideration: 1) Rega P1 2) Pro-ject Debut III 3) Music...

I know this is not a tube amp but I figured I'd post here in hopes that someone might be capable of the repair or might recommend a tech to me. The amp is one of 50 made back in 1993-1994 by Genesis. I have been in contact with the designers (artie nudell & paul mcgowan) about finding a tech to repair my amp but got no help. Eveidently, it's a rather...

Hi, we're designing a new "hiend" monophonic poweramp (100W@8ohm - mosfet). It'll feature a 500W toroidal transformer and we planned to use ELNA Silmic2 RFS caps as PS filtering for a total capacitance of 20000 to 24000uF. I'd like to know your opinion about the pros and cons of the following electrolytic caps configuration : 1] Total...

My SACD player puts out a very low signal for the front stereo outputs. I have these connected to my old stereo system and the surround channels go to a multi channel amp which has it's level controlled by the remote. I would like to add a simple stereo line amp to raise the level of the front channel signal. Is such a thing available? ...
