As a newbie, I decided to try a tube amplifier. So I obtained Antique Sound Labs Wave AV-8 monoblocks (8 wpc push-pull) and hooked them up to my Klipsch Synergy F-2 (95.5 dB sensitivity; 8 ohm impedance) speakers. Hi: I'm looking for an electrostatic loudspeaker that has the highest treble response and can handle the loudest sounds [without clipping] of its kind. I am not really a fan of bass. I like treble and would like the loudspeaker to be able to withstands extreme loudness without clipping. It should also be handle to best handle already-clipped waveforms...

I have a pair of Altec 620s (604-8G speakers) with a McIntosh C28 preamp and a McIntosh 240 tube amp. I'm using a pair of JansZen Model 65 electrostatic tweeters that sound excellent with anything acoustic or light but suck for loud rock. Any suggestions? It doesn't have to be vintage and I'm not interested in looking at anything worth more than the rest...

For those of you interested I posted my image gallery from day 2 at CES. On the second day I started in the high end audio rooms in the Venetian then moved to the main CES area in the convention center. There were a ton of things going on over there including the auto electronics area. I included some shots of a few neat cars that were on display and some...

IMHO, much of the disparagement directed at Bose has been due to the superior marketing of their product line compared to most other consumer electronics manufacturers. And I say this from the perspective of having been an incredibly successful marketer of consumer-packaged goods products in a variety of product categories and high-tech products that are...

I am looking for one or two these tweeters, which were used in the oriinal Meadowlark Blue Heron speakers. If anyone has any ideas or sources I'd appreciate the help. Mike --

Bose Corp. introduced the 901 in 1968 (dunno which month). I offer the following piece as a "tip of the hat" to that significant audio event seeing that this is 40 years later. I thought that I had previously published this but couldn't find it anywhere in the archives. Anyway here goes, and I realize I might be setting the cat among the pigeons!!! . Back...

Most of my DVDs and SACDs have all five channels but some don't have a center channel. The London Symphony Live SACDs that I have are minus a center channel. A new DVD ("Libera" on EMI) is missing the center channel even though the menu says 5.1 surround and my player display mode says 3/2.1. Is it common for some discs to not have a center channel? ...
